4.2. Health4.2.1. Summary of Government Health Statistics, 2010 - 2013Health services in Abu Dhabi have experienced remarkable expansion andtransformation over past years. This is most evident in the significant risein the number of hospitals and other health facilities over this period. Thenumber of hospitals grew to 42 in 2013, including new private hospitalsopened in the regions of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain over this period. In general,the Emirate has also witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of healthcentres and clinics.In 2013, there were 2.8 physicians per 1000 population, 5.8 nurses per 1000population and 1.6 beds per 1000 population.A focus on increasing levels of health funding in the Emirate has resultedin proliferation of insurance companies and the health insurance productsavailable.
