HistoryMiller Motte Technical College in Charleston, SC opened in 2000 as part of the Delta Educational Systems, Inc. system of schools. In January 2018, Miller MotteTechnical College was purchased by STVT AAI Education Inc., dba Ancora Education and received accreditation by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools andColleges (ACCSC). In March of 2020, Miller Motte Technical College changed its name to Miller Motte College.FacilitiesMiller Motte College has 15 classrooms, three computer labs each holding 52 computers plus 3 instructor computers, two medical labs and one surgical lab. The buildingalso has a student study/conference room area, a library, a student lounge, 15 administrative offices, and a reception area for students and visitors. The space is morethan adequate to accommodate the current student population of 400. Classrooms range in size from 225 square feet to 725 square feet and can seat from 12 to 40students. The classrooms are equipped with seating and tables, lighting, projectors, an instructor desk and computer, and dry erase boards. Some classrooms containthe hands on equipment necessary for instruction in the medical or surgical fields.The office space is a shared space for all faculty and staff. The enrollment team has an area with cubicles. The Program Directors and Career Services staff has officesequipped with desk, computers, and phones. There is an adjunct instructor room and staff and faculty lounge as well. The parking is free for staff, students and guests.The North Charleston Police Department has jurisdiction over the parking lot. The facility is in compliance with all federal, state, and local codes for occupancy and safely.The campus has regular inspections by the appropriate agencies to ensure safety.The school operates a driving range for the CDL Training: Class A Tractor Trailer program at 1412 State Rd., Summerville, SC 29483.DefinitionsPayment Period a defined time frame that measures a student’s progress in their selected program of study allowing for the administration of Title IV funding.Payment periods will vary depending on a students selected program of study (i.e. term vs clock hour)Grading Period the period of time for which students receive final grades, this can be a module, term, or payment period, varies by program.Term based Programs Typically comprised of 10/12 week courses in a term, varying by programModular based Programs Typically comprised of four, six, nine, or twelve week courses within a grading period, varying by programClass SizeThe school will maintain a proper ratio between teachers and students to allow adequate attention to each individual in both theory class and the laboratory. The student teacher ratio will generally not exceed 40:1 in theory classes and 12:1 in laboratory classes.The student teacher ratio for the Surgical Technology program will generally not exceed 20:1 for theory classes for all enrolling cohorts and 12:1 for laboratory classes.Admissions Requirements & ProceduresMiller Motte College seeks students who have a strong desire for practical career preparation in their chosen fields and who have the ability to achieve academicsuccess. Applications for admission are accepted throughout the year. Refer to the academic calendar for the exact starting dates. Information about enrollmentin Miller Motte College may be obtained from any of the school’s Admissions Representatives.General Admissions RequirementsThe admission procedure requires an exchange of information between the applicant and an Admissions Representative either on campus or by remote representatives.These representatives conduct a personal interview with each applicant, during which the representative discusses the school’s educational programs in relation to theapplicant’s career preferences, training needs, and individual motivation. This interview plays an important role in helping the applicant determine if the programs offeredat the campus will help them achieve their career goals and if they will move forward with enrollment. High school applicants are encouraged to be accompanied by aparent or legal guardian.In addition, applicants who plan to enter a program must meet the following admission requirements:Complete the SmarterMeasure Learning Readiness Indicator (see Assessments section for further information). Applicants in all programs (except clock hour andnon Title IV programs) must score a minimum score of 60% on the Technical Competency sections. Applicants who do not score the minimum score on theTechnical Competency section are required to complete the Technology for Success (ORN0001) supplemental student orientation and achieve a minimum score of60% on the Technology for Success assessment.Applicants enrolling into the Surgical Technology at the Miller Motte College campus: Complete the Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE).Must meet a minimum score of 18 or higher.Miller Motte College, North Charleston, SC School Catalog May 21, 2021 Page 11 of 84

If an applicant fails to meet the necessary score for admission, the applicant may be re tested using an alternate test form and taking the test timed as before.There is no limit to the number of times an applicant may be re tested.Entrance evaluation may be waived for applicants holding an Associate Degree or higher.In an effort to maintain a safe educational and working environment for students and staff, the school reserves the right to not accept applicants who are known tohave/disclose certain types of criminal convictions in their backgrounds. Admitted students who are discovered to have misrepresented their criminal conviction history inthe application process may be subject to immediate dismissal. Similarly, students who commit certain types of crimes while enrolled may be subject to immediatedismissal.
