INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE WITHHIT-32AR8DRILL GUIDE FOR ADAMS RITE8800 SERIES PACIC HARDWAREON ALUMINUM FRAME DOORSInside view of HIT-32AR8 drill guide.Drill bushings and their uses described below.Be sure to wear safety glasses when drilling holes.5/32” drill bushing—holeused to mount panichardware.Two 7/32” drill bushingsused for rim cylindermounting screws.1/4” drill bushing usedfor rim cylinder tailpiece.After drill guide isremoved from door thishole needs to be drilledto 3/8”5/32” drill bushing—holeused to mount panichardware.Holes used for mountingscrews. Once installation iscompleted these holes arecovered and not visible

The HIT-32AR drill guide is reversiblefor both right and left hand doors. Theside plates are counter sunk on bothsides, just mount the plates on the sideneeded.To start the installation, decide theheight the panic bar is to be mounted.With a combination square draw apencil line across the door edge at thedetermined height.Using the window in the front plate ofthe drill guide, align the pencil markwith the center line on the guide.

Use the drill screws that weresupplied with the guide andattach one screw at the topand one at the bottom using anelectric drill. Make sure the twoPhillips screws on the inside ofthe guide make contact withthe door edge and the insideplate is flat against the door.NOTE: A drill with a clutchdrive is a big help, you do notwant to snap a screw in thedoor.Use a 5/32” drill bit to drill topand bottom mounting holes.These holes are used to mountthe panic bar with selfthreading screws supplied byAdams Rite.Change to a 7/32” bit and drillthe right and left hand rimcylinder screw holes.

Change to a 1/4” bit and drill the hole for therim cylinder tailpiece.Leave the 1/4” bit in and drill the pilot holefor the outside rim cylinder. Once all holeshave been drilled with the drill guide,remove from door.Drill the inside 1/4” rim cylinder to 3/8”.

Using a 1-3/16” hole saw,redrill the outside 1/4” pilothole. Completed holeshown on the right.Change to a countersink and countersinkthe two rim cylinder screw holes per AdamsRite installation directions.Install rim cylinder.

Rim cylinder installation completed.Finish installing panic hardware and strikeper Adams Rite directions. There are two5/32” holes required on the opposite side ofthe panic bar.
