RBM Surface TreatmentSurfaceComparison of the dental implantRBM (Resorbable Blast Media) surface treatment is designedto roughen the implant surface without leaving the residualembedded blast particles or debris in the treated substrate.It resolves completely the issues which can occur with SLA, orother surface treatment and deliver impeccable results.The rough surface of the implant is crucial to achieving optimalosseointegration. It increases the success rate of Bone to ImplantContact (BIC), the healing process and tissue growth around theimplant while eliminating the unwanted possibilities of postsurgery infections.Superior RawMaterialDSI Dental Implants: Made of biocompatible alloyTi6Al-4V ELI. DSI Implant AnalysisRBM vs SLA ComparisonThe two major surfaces in clinical use are theSLA surface and the RBM surface. SLA surfaceis created by sandblasting with large gritparticles, followed by acid etching to removethe remaining particles and further increase theroughness.There is no significant difference between SLAsurface treatment and RBM surface. Whenprocessing the surface with aluminum oxide,it may stay on the surface, as seen duringspectral analysis test. These residues cansometimes impede the osseointegration. Sincealuminum and its compounds have a polytropiceffect on the body, the severity of which isnot directly dependent on its concentration,implantation should take into account thepossibility of complications in the postimplantation period.High acid concentration washes away thealuminum oxide particles during the SLAsurface treatment. Acid etching helps toachieve micropores with a diameter of 5-10microns. It considered an optimal size topromote a fast and stable bone attachment.Specific surface characteristics can beinfluenced by various factors, such as aconcentration of acid, temperature, duration ofimmersion, and even the frequency of changingthe bath with acid. In cases when the acidetching process is so aggressive that it couldcause metallurgical decomposition, whichcould adversely affect fatigue strength – acid“lubricates” the roughness that forms duringthe sandblasting.
