When Interstate 8 1 was being constructed, he workedwith the Deportment of Transportation to have bridge constructedbetween Massingill Road and Island Road. This allowed people toget to the other side of their property, where most had theirgardens and farms. This bridge also allowed for people to have anavenue to cross the Interstate without having to travel backthrough Bristol or Blountville.
