D181 Math PlacementCourse placement letters for the2020-2021 school year will bemade available via Skyward for allstudents entering grades 3-8 inlate May of 2020. The letter willcontain placement scores, mathcourse enrollment, and bridgeinformation. A separate email forBridge registration will be sent tofamilies after placement letters aresent. The appeal processguidelines will be linked in thecommunication and will beavailable on the website.The 2020-2021 approved math placementcriteria can be found here and also on the D181website. Revisions to the math placement criteriapresented at the April 20, 2020 BoE meeting canbe accessed here and will be posted on theD181 website after approval.

Math BridgeThe summer math bridge (MB) courses were developed forstudents entering grades 3 and above who qualify and arerecommended to accelerate their math pathway withinDistrict 181. Each course provides in-depth instruction,practice, and assessment for standards needed to bridge toan advanced or accelerated math pathway.Summer Bridge will be taught on-site at Hinsdale MiddleSchool from June 10-July 1, if we are no longer in“shelter-in-place.” If we remain in “shelter-in-place,” we willoffer Summer Bridge instruction remotely through the use ofa live virtual platform.

Student AbsenceIMPORTANTStudentAttendanceInformationAny student absence must be pre-arranged with the Bridgeteacher and called into the Bridge office. More than twoabsences will result in course non-completion and the studentwill remain in the current course trajectory.Movement into advanced and accelerated courses will notoccur when 3 or more unexcused absences occur duringBridge.The only exception to the attendance requirement is if a childhas a significant medical condition, serious parent/siblingillness, or death in the immediate family during Bridge dates.Summer camps, summer sports, or vacations are considered anunexcused absence.
