ABOUT THE CONTESTThe Wonderland Award is an annual multidisciplinary competitionthat encourages new scholarship and creative work related toLewis Carroll, the English logician, mathematician, photographer,nonsense poet, and author of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderlandand its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice FoundThere. The contest encourages the use of the Cassady LewisCarroll Collection, held in Doheny Library at USC.The format for Wonderland Award entries is limited only by theimagination. We accept a broad range of submissions, includingperformance pieces, scholarly essays, poems, videogames, visualartworks, animation, music, digital compositions, and films.ABOUT THE CASSADY LEWIS CARROLL COLLECTIONThe USC Libraries’ Carroll Collection contains more than 4,000rare books, pamphlets, letters, and other items related to thework of Lewis Carroll. Included are works Carroll inscribed tofriends, books from Carroll’s own library, copies of Carroll’s workfrom Alice Liddell’s library, limited collectors editions, and mostworks by major illustrators of the Alice stories.First editions of early translations into German, French, andItalian, and important bibliographic and biographical worksstand side-by-side with signed copies of movie scripts, playbillsfrom stage adaptations, Victorian-era playing cards, and popup books. Comic books, graphic novels, manga editions, literaryparodies, computer games, movies, and original artwork relatedto Carroll have recently joined the collection.
