"I cannotsee how a column that informs librarypatrons of Sanibel, or from any area whoreads The Islander, of the book selectionand topics of interest in the branch is adisservice. In my education inlibrarionship, I was informed (possiblyI'm too naive!) that one of the majorduties of a librarian is to make the publicaware of the library's services andbooks. The best way for the SanibelPublic Library to do this would be thelocal community paper, The Islander.Mr. Harrison stated the .". . .decision is (was) made only for the goodof our library." Webb has been appointedgeneral manager for the Sundial Beachand Tennis Resort on Sanibel.Webb accepted the move to Sundialfollowing two years in administration atthe Marco Beach Hotel and seven yearsin the Bahamas as assistant manager atthe Nassau Beach Hotel and theSheraton British Colonial Hotel. All thisexpertise is laid on a foundation oftraining in Paris and London.Situation on an island tucked intothe Gulf of Mexico off Florida's westcoast, Sundial is opening additionalfacilities to accommodate executiveseminars, conventions and salesmeetings. When completed, Sundial willoffer meeting space for more than 900.Sanibel is world famous for its 15miles of shelling beach. Public wasleft to whistle Dixie.Mr. Shirey's Democratic opponentis very well-funded, and only he knowshow and why.
