Our founder, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop,envisioned the Kamehameha Schools serving Native Hawaiians into perpetuity andwe are all proof of that. Iʻm sure all of you feel as I do, indebted to KamehamehaSchools and Pauahi for the opportunities afforded us while enrolled as studentshere on the Kapālama campus. The experiences we had as students here helped usto build a strong foundation on which we were able to build our future.Today, I welcome you back as the Poʻo Kula of this campus and am so honored to behere serving the haumāna and future leaders of Hawaiʻi and beyond. We the alumni are represented by theblossoming rose buds in the lei, one for every class present at this year’s celebration, and although beautiful andfragrant on its own, it is only when woven together that we form a circle of beauty that cannot be broken. Like abeautiful rose lei, we surround the princess with our love, for she is the source of all our strength and pride. Be a partof this culminating and celebrated event!
