SIGMA THETA TAU INTERNATIONAL Summer, 2006page 5A WORD OF THANKS.Background Information: The Iota Sigma Chapter has decided to split half of the annual Monetary Community ServiceAward between Region 6 & 8. It was decided to give the Region 6 funds to the newly chartered chapter Tau Pi in BatonRouge. Below is a letter sent to Kathleen Taylor form the Tau Pi Chapter.Words cannot express the thanksgiving and gratitude for your chapter’s thoughtfulness and kindness. Our chapter willforever remember and cherish this. Hurricane Katrina has leftmuch devastation to many. However, acts of kindness such as yours, reminds usof the good and humanity that exists in the world today. The school of nursing, and Tau Pi members, remain in the deliveryof primary health care to hurricane evacuees, via our mobile health unit, at the largest FEMA village in Baton Rouge. Themajority of my time is spent in coordination of these efforts. Due to the enormity of the work involved, sometimes we beganto tire (human nature), but realize we have to keep going for the people who need our services. Several of our members losteverything in the hurricane. However, all is well with them as they continue to move on and rebuild their lives. This has truly energized me and reinforces thatwhen you do good, good will follow. I will notify you when the check arrives, as well as all of the Tau Pi members, and theleadership of the school of nursing. Will keep you posted. Thanks again,Wanda Spurlock, DNSTau Pi ChapterSigma Theta Tau
