Many thought that it was on its last leg and the joy that manypeople experienced coming to Florida during those cold winter days was at the verge ofbeing a thing of the past. Thanks to the efforts of the Florida Chapter and the CarlisleEvents people, the Winter Regional was combined with the Carlisle Florida Auto Fest and itproved to be a good fit (read judging chairman's message for details).NCRS Florida ChapterMembership Co-ChairsSteve & Ann Torptorpsrus@comcast.netNCRS Florida ChapterEditor (The Fuel Line)Ed Nieves:ednieves4039@gmail.comIssue Number 23 * January - March 2019

Late last year, I was approached by Ed Augustine and askedif I would assume the position of Chapter President. Afterconsulting with the Judging Administrator about his takingover as the Chapter Judging Chairman, I agreed to becomeacting President and these changes took effect January 1,2019.The Officers of the Florida Chapter of the NCRS Inc., are:President, John Buchheister, Vice President Marco Hartner,Secretary Rich Kaletta, (who will also be responsible forcoordinating our Chapters efforts to comply with therequirements set forth by the National NCRS), Treasurer, BillHerron, Membership, Steve and Ann Torp, JudgingChairman, Paul Schwack and Board Member and Editor, EdNieves. The transition of officers has been both smooth andeffective. Most importantly, Paul Schwack taking over as JudgingChairman was the most critical, coming at time as weprepared for the Sun n Fun 41st Florida Regional, which wasjust completed. The amount of work and effort that Paul putforth was exceptional and averaged 40 plus hrs. per weekthat lasted the better part of 10 weeks. There is no way theRegional would have been as successful as it was without hisdevoted and tireless efforts. As for the Regional, I tried to compile a list our volunteers, which at one point numbered 15. Fearing that I wouldoverlook someone, I decided not to try and list the namesso as not to forget anyone. But let me say, "Thank You toeveryone who helped make this event very successful." Imust acknowledge the special work done each day byEmma and Mattey Strum, selling the t-shits, polos, pins, pencils and window stickers. Their efforts raised over 1500 in sales! Thank You ladies, for your excellent andcheerful work. Well done!Special thanks to Mike Hooker for his excellent and wellreceived Advanced Judging School presentation on Fridayof "CDCIF." Mike put together a high quality booklet thathad color pictures and detailed explanations for the judgingprocess.During the week I was approached by Jodie Morrison, assistant to the owners of Carlisle Productions, whoexpressed her thanks for our participation and inquired,"You are coming back next year, aren’t you?" I assured herwe were and looked forward to another excellent CorvetteEvent. Many thanks to everyone and hope to see many of you inFt. Lauderdale for the Chapter Meet May 18th and at theGreenville, SC National Convention in July.John BuchheisterIt'sa llab o u tthepe o pl e !Issue Number 23 * January - March 2019

Editor’s NotesHello everyone. First and foremost, I want to thank all who participate in the WinterRegional. A lot of work went into this event. Despite the prior confusion months before theevent, everything went very well. As mention in the President's Message, Paul Schwack wasextremely instrumental in getting our Winter Regional going in the right direction. On a more personal note, Margie and I have moved from Miami, Florida to Beverly Hills,Florida. The move setback this issue of the newsletter somewhat, but I was able to get it doneand distributed prior to the end of March. Moving from a big city like Miami and into a smalltown is definitely a life changer, but since my retirement in July, the move was part of mymaster plan. The good news is, that I have many NCRS brothers close by that have been goodsupport system while Margie and I settle in.Ed NievesFuel Line EditorAs most of you know by now, our chapter has a new administration. I want to thank EdAugustine for all his years of service to the Florida Chapter. Ed has been a major cornerstoneof our chapter and thanks to him, we can continue to build on all of his successes. In closing, this is my 23rd issue of this newsletter. The current administration has asked me to remain as editor and alsosit on the chapter's board. I accepted the invitation and will continue to serve as your newsletter editor and assist in anyway possible to help our chapter grow and flourish.Once again, we can always use your tech articles to share with the rest of the membership. By Paul SchwackGreetings! By now I’m sure that you’ve heard that I have been appointed as JudgingChairman of the Florida Chapter and I‘m also continuing as Judging administrator. Well, the 41st Florida Chapter Winter Regional is in the books and we have received a lot offavorable compliments about it. We sure had nice weather! The few complaints I heard during the event were that it was too hot. It should be noted that this event would nothave been held but for Coach’s vision for this new format. The Carlisle Events staff were extremely helpful in thein the planning and implementation stages of the event. The longest driven Corvette was a beautiful 1954, thatwas driven 425 miles for its 100.0 Top Flight Award. And,Everyone knows that you can’t hold an event this sizethere was one owner with a 1967 Sportsman entry thatwithout volunteers. Many of our Chapter membersdrove 700 miles to the event. Kudos to y’all.worked tirelessly during the meet and I want to thankthem . you know who you are.As mentioned at the membership meeting, we areplanning a small event sometime in April to judge aAnother group that we couldn’t hold this event withoutmember’s C4, so that he can go for his Founders Award.is the Tabulators. The cars couldn’thave been better if the club selected them for the show. We had 58 cars and three motorcycles registered for the show, andanother 35 cars or so showed up on Sunday. Some the cars we have seen before, but quite a few were making their firstappearance. With Carnaval on the Mile going strong on Miracle Mile, we had hundreds of spectators, many of whom weretaking selfies alongside the gleaming cars displayed in front of Coral Gables City Hall. For the chimeto work, terminal 1 mustgroundedThis is beour annualjudged show going by AACA rules, and thanks to Head Judges Manny and Millie Garcia and their able teamof judgesLarryWechsler,Maurice Hawa, Peter Lacau, Al Padilla, Hank Tester, Tomas Hernandez, Ron Mitro, Tim Merriman, through theand Tom Graboski, awards were handed out to the best in each class plus a tie for Best in Show.driver's seatbuckle switch.Best In Show – A tieAs always, a show like this takes a lot of planning and preparation.
