We never thought it would bethis fast. We are very, very, thankful for all of thepeople who took the time out of their time to make this dreamcome true for our family.We are grateful for Habitat for Humanity and all they doto help families. Also to Catch the Building Spirit buildersfor their time and all the loving people that helped make thishappen. We are super blessed to have met so many wonderfulpeople. About the FamilyJose and Erica have four activechildren ages 5 to 17. Jose, theoldest, plays football and gets goodgrades. Alexis plays the Baritone in theschool band and has done so for morethan nine months. Yesenia lights upthe room with her winning smile as shetalks about how she loves to play withher dolls and how she is such a goodstudent in school. Daniel, the youngest, a very energetic 5 year old, devoteshis time to basketball, playing withhis friends, and of course, excelling inschool. The family of six, after living insuch a cramped small apartment andsuffering the ill effects of those crowded2spaces on their family, believes theirprayers are being answered.Jose works as a concrete finisher andhas been with the same company forthe past seven years. Erica works parttime occasionally but wants to makesure her children get all the care andattention they need. Erica says that herexperience working toward her sweatequity was very educational. She says,“I never knew how to hold a hammer correctly and now I have helpedto frame a house. I feel so strong andsmart.” Now both Jose and Erica areconfident that they can conduct manyhome repairs on their own.Catch the Building SpiritFall 2013

Bearetired from the board at the end of our pastfiscal year (September). She was the last foundingmember to retire from the board and we thank herand all of the founders for their vision and tenacity for starting what has become a very successfuland visible social action involvement. She was veryactive as the editor of the newsletter and was thetent leader who arranged for all of that deliciousfood for the blitz week workers. I don’t think that asimple “Thank You” is enough, but Thank You verymuch. She will be missed.
