INTPUOULTION.The ability to communicate well is a prime requisite for all healthprofessionals, particularly for nurses who occupy such strategicpositions in the delivery of health care. Essential to communicatingin the spoken and written word is a solid familiarization with medicalterminology. This module is designed to introduce the nurse to theprincipal medical abbreviations and often-used prefixes and suffixes.PREREQUISITES:There are no foal prerequisites to this module. However, the nurse'sprior ability to memorize common medical terminology will be instrumentalin its completion.OBJECTIVES:1. Given a listing of principal medical abbreviations, the nursewill identify the definitions without error.2. Given a list of often-used prefixes, the nurse will write theirmeanings with 100% accuracy.3. From a list of often-used suffixes, the nurse will write theirmeanings without error.
