IntroductionBrink POS supports several payment gateway solutions and processors for accepting EMV cardpayments. This document FreedomPay Payment Middleware Gateway.DefinitionsThe information in the following pages displays tables and provides information regarding differentprocessors, and the features available to each. Therefore, the following are some definitions that areused throughout this document that you should be aware of:EMV: EMV stands for “Europay-MasterCard-Visa”. It is the chipped card technology that allows formore secure transactions when used in EMV-equipped payment terminals and ATMsGateway: The “engine” of the payment processing system. This can be software installed on thePOS system, a firmware operating system on the payment device, or an external server throughwhich the payment data is passed.Middleware: Software that acts as a bridge between an operating system, database and/orapplications, such as a POS system.Processor: The Company (also known as the Host”) that processes the paymentFeatures: A selection of features that each combination of gateway and processor supports.Note: This document only covers EMV payment systems.
