1. Pre-requisites – All pre-requisites must be met successfully prior to the application deadline for the semester in which the student is applying.Coursework that has not been completed by the application deadline will not be considered during the evaluation process Biology - Applicants must have completed a COLLEGE LEVELbiology/lab course with a grade of "C" or better prior to applying tothe nursing program. Chemistry - Applicants must have completed chemistry/labcourse with a grade of "C" or better prior to applying to the nursingprogram. Completing BIO-110 or another acceptable biology course with a grade of "C"or better. Students should verify if a course is acceptable with the advising andregistration offices.AP Biology/lab course with a grade of "C" or better AND a score of 3 or higheron the College Board exam.CCAC Biology Waiver Exam - Minimum score of 70.High school chemistry courses may only be used in the absence of a collegelevel chemistry course.If the student has completed a college level chemistry at any time after highschool, the college level chemistry grade will be used for review. IF this gradeis below a "C", the student must repeat the course PRIOR to applying to thenursing programEligibility may be established by any one of the following: English/Reading - Applicants must be eligible to register forEnglish-101 by the application deadline in order to be consideredfor admission. Having earned a “C” or better in a college level English course at CCAC oranother accredited college or university;SAT/ ACT* reading scores of 510/21, respectively AND having achieved therequisite score on CCAC’s writing placement test; Having completed all prescribed developmental English and Readingcoursework with a grade or "C" or better. This includes ESL reading, writingand grammar;Satisfactory CLEP* exam score

*Please note that SAT/ACT and CLEP exam scores must be submitted to the collegeprior to the application deadline order to be used in the nursing program evaluationprocess.Eligibility may be established by any one of the following: Mathematics - Applicants must be eligible to register for MAT108-Intermediate Algebra or MAT-106 – Mathematics for HealthScience in order to be considered for admission. LPN - RN Transition: In addition to the aforementionedprerequisites, LPN-RN Transition applicants must ALSO havesuccessfully completed: Having completed an approved 3 or 4 credit college level math course.SAT/ACT mathematics scores of 550/21, respectively;Having completed all prescribed developmental mathematics courseworkwith a grade of "C" or better.Satisfactory CLEP exam scoreBIO-161 - Anatomy and Physiology 1MAT Elective 3-4 creditsPSY-101 - Introduction to Psychology2. GPA – All applicants will fall under one of the student categories listed below. The student must meet the appropriate GPA requirement thatcorresponds with his/her student classification.A cumulative CCAC GPA of 2.8 or higherORA cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higherORA cumulative (non-weighted) high school GPA of 3.0 or higherApplies to any student who has earned 12 or more CCAC college level credits at thetime of application.Applies to any student who has not earned 12 or more CCAC credits but has earned12 or more college level credits at other post-secondary institutions. In this case, acomposite GPA will be calculated representing all institutions attended.Applies to any student who meets all other criteria but has earned less than 12college level credits at a two- or four-year post-secondary institution(s).

3. Grades and attempts Students must have earned a "C" grade or better in allprerequisite coursework.If a prerequisite course is not successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better bythe third attempt, the student will not be considered for admission. Attempts includewithdrawals and incompletes at all institutions attended. Students must have earned a "C" grade or better in all relevantscience coursework.If a science course is not successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better by thethird attempt, the student will not be considered for admission. If taken prior to application, Anatomy and Physiology 1,Anatomy and Physiology 2, and Microbiology, MUST also havebeen completed with a "C" grade or better.* Please note: LPN-RN Transition candidates MUST completeAnatomy and Physiology 1 prior to application.If a science course is not successfully completed with a grade of “C” or better by thethird attempt, the student will not be considered for admission. TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) All students applying for entry into NUR-110/120 must pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with an Adjusted Individual TotalScore of 58.7%. All LPN-RN candidates applying for entry into NUR-130/140 must pass the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) with an Adjusted IndividualTotal Score of 58.7%. Students register for the exam through www.atitesting.com. Detailed information about the TEAS exam can be found in our Important FAQsabout the TEAS located on our nursing admissions page.

A Word about ClearancesPreliminary admission decisions are made on the basis of academic merit as described by our admission policies. However, all of the admission decisionsare contingent on the satisfactory and timely completion of criminal background checks, immunizations, physicals, drug testing, and other requirements.After confirming their seat, accepted students will receive a package with detailed instructions on how and when to complete registration processes,clearances, medical information, etc. approximately 3 weeks after the initial offer letter. Please do not begin this process prior to receiving an official packetfrom your campus.An unsatisfactory background check, inability to complete the requirements by the designated deadline, or the failure to report to mandatory registrationand orientation meetings will result in the revocation of the admission offer. Students who have active cases/charges within one year of admission to theprogram will not be permitted to continue the enrollment process. Students will be notified of the decision and will be instructed on whether or not they areeligible to re-apply at a later point in time. All students are required to notify the Dean of Nursing of any changes to the criminal record.
