DISTRICT ORGANIZATIONYuba Community College DistrictThe Yuba Community College District was founded in 1927 as a single-college district on a 160-acre site outside of Marysville.In December 1965, the District was reorganized to include Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba counties. Later, in 1974–75, the Districtwas expanded to include portions of Glenn, Lake, and Yolo counties. The District now stretches across the broad CentralValley of California, from high in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada to the Coastal Range, and covers 4,192 square miles.The Yuba Community College District transitioned to a multi-college district in 2008 upon accreditation of WoodlandCommunity College as the 110th community college in the California Community College System. CAMPUS INFORMATIONWoodland Community CollegeWoodland Community College (WCC) was first establishedin leased facilities as an outreach center of Yuba Collegein 1975. The demand for college programs and servicesin Yolo County grew rapidly, and by 1977, plans for apermanent location emerged. In 1981, the outreach sitewas officially designated as an Educational Center by theCalifornia Postsecondary Commission, and in 1985, theYuba Community College Board of Trustees secured a120-acre site. Groundbreaking on the permanent facilitiesbegan in 1987 and the Center opened at the present-daysite in 1990. The college has continued to develop andexpand with the addition of a Science building in 2005 anda 72,000 Sq. Ft. Learning Resources Center in 2007. Localvoters made further growth possible by their support of theMeasure J Bond initiative in 2006 that provided funding forbuilding renovations and infrastructure upgrades as well asestablishing an outreach facilityin Colusa County. WoodlandCommunity College wasaccredited as the secondcollege within the YubaCommunity College District in2008.WCC offers General Educationcoursework, Associate Degrees forTransfer, Career Education (CE) Associate Degrees andCertificates of Achievement, skill-building courses, andother life-long learning opportunities. Our faculty, staff,and administration are committed to supporting studentsuccess through quality instruction and a wide range ofsupport services.Lake County CampusCourses have been offered in this region since the fallsemester of 1972. The Campus is located off Highway 53in the city of Clearlake. In 2012, the campus added 26,600sq. ft to the existing facilities. The expansion added a newstudent services center that includes a new library, threecomputer labs, and a vast array of important studentservices. The new facilities also include a state-of-the-artkitchen and dining room for the Culinary Arts Programand new classrooms/labs for Biology, Chemistry andEarly Childhood Education courses. At the Lake CountyCampus, students can complete two years of pre-transferwork or satisfy their General Education requirements aswell as major preparation courses for many degrees. Inaddition to transfer coursework, the Campus offers careertechnical education programs in Accounting, BusinessAdministration, ChemicalDependency Counseling,Culinary Arts, Early ChildhoodEducation, Drinking Water/Waste Water and Weldingare also offered. The Campusalso provides a wide range ofstudent services, Basic NeedsCenter, developmental courses,MESA program, and a Child DevelopmentCenter. For many years, the Lake County Campus has beenan outreach center of Yuba College. As of July 1, 2016, thecampus has re-aligned with Woodland and is now known asthe Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College.Colusa County CampusThe Colusa County Campus of Woodland CommunityCollege, located at 99 Ella Street in Williams, opened inJanuary 2011. Course offerings include a variety of generaleducation transfer courses, English for Speakers of OtherLanguages (ESOL), and Career Education (CE) programsof study. The ability to communicate with facultymembers minimizes the risk that a student may becomeconfused and lost in the hurry and bustle of college life andemphasizes the importance of the individual. Furthermore,WCC bridges the gap between high school and university,facilitating the adjustment to postsecondary education.The years of college education offered by WCC are animportant budgetary consideration, especially since thereis an increasing tendency for professional preparation torequire more than four years of college study. WCC enablesstudents and their families to conserve their resources for alonger period of study required for professional training.WCC provides students with such services and activitiesas individualized counseling, social and cultural activities,and physical recreation to meet the needs and patterns ofall students. Yuba Community College District The Yuba Community College District was founded in 1927 as a single-college district on a 160-acre site outside of Marysville. In December 1965, the District was reorganized to include Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba counties. Later, in 1974-75, the District was expanded to include portions of Glenn, Lake, and Yolo .
