The banquet will be held at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center, formerly known as the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School, 6800Hoke Rd., Clayton, Ohio. The social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., with a buffet at 6:30p.m. This is a great time to renew old friendships and see people from other classeswhom you may not have seen for a while. The classes of 1959 and 1964 will hold theirclass reunions that weekend also.There will be an overhead picture presentation at the banquet again this year.Please contact me if you have any good snapshots from your school days. BHS Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees 2009Dick Prass ’49Dick Prass was known for his speed, quickness, and hard-nosed aggressive style of play for the BrookvilleBluebirds/Blue Devils earning eleven letters; 4 in baseball, 3 in football, 2 in track and 2 in basketball.Dick was first baseman four years for Coach John Brill and Coach Robert Driver. In summer, he played for ByronStupp's Brookville Red Sox Junior American Legion teams in 1946 and 1947. The Blue Devils were MCL runners-upin 1947 and MCL Champions in 1948! (Note: The name "Bluebirds" was changed to "Blue Devils" in the spring of1947).In football, Dick played guard for Dale Miller. Robert Driver took over the Bluebirds in 1947. Dick moved toquarterback since he could both block and pass, also he played safety on defense. In 1948, Driver assembled thespeedy and powerful backfield of Burt Rohrer, Dick Prass, Paul Frazee and Tommy Thomas along with others that seta school record for the most points scored in a season. Dick was named to All-MCL Second Team that year!In track, Dick competed in the 100-yard dash, 220-yard dash, 880-yard relay and long jump for John Burkhart's MCL Champions. As ajunior, the 880-yard relay team of Dwaine DeVilbiss, Dick Prass, Gene Wysong and Burt Rohrer finished third at the district, qualifying forthe state. The next year, the 880-yard relay team of Dick Prass, Lowell "Squirrel" Hoff, Bud Welbaum and Burt Rohrer were undefeatedgoing into the district meet where they finished second, qualifying them again for the state!In basketball, Dick played guard for John Brill's Bluebirds and John Burkhart's Blue Devils. As busy as he was in sports, he found timeto participate in other school activities. He was president of his junior class and editor-in-chief of the Scroll during his senior year. Following high school, Dick served in the Marines in the Korean Conflict, after which he worked in electrical contracting. He retired from KastleElectric after 26 years where he was CEO and Chairman of the Board. Now retired, he keeps busy with volunteer work. He works on theTrinity Lutheran Church (Dayton) property committee. He and his wife Marjorie (Newman) reside in Vandalia, Ohio. They have 3 childrenand 7 grandchildren.Kim (Creamer) Elling ’88Kim Creamer earned 9 varsity letters; 4 in softball, 3 in basketball and2 in volleyball. She was an excellent student in the classroom, active in music and in other extra-curricular activities.Kim played basketball and in the league, received 1st Team Honors twice and Player of the Year in the SWBL. Shereceived Player of the Year in District 15 and was leading scorer in the Dayton Area with 19.9 points average. In volleyball, she lettered two years. As a senior, Kim was on the District 15 All-Star team. In softball, she was a four-yearletter winner. Kim was on 1st Team All-SWBL her junior and senior year. The Ohio High School Fast Pitch CoachesAssociation awarded Kim with the Scholar Athlete Award.Kim received the Greenblat-Warnke Award her junior year. She graduated from Capital University's Schoolof Nursing, and she is now employed as an Infusion Specialist Nurse. She resides in Brookville with her daughter,Madelyn, a future Blue Devil. Kim's parents are Dale and Susan Creamer. Her brother, Kregg Creamer (BHS '91)joined the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.Josh Sagester ’97Josh Sagester was one of the best all-around athletes for the Blue Devils during the mid 1990s. He earned10 varsity letters: 4 in basketball, 3 in football, and 3 in baseball.In basketball, he was captain twice and MVP. He was 2nd all-time leading scorer in Brookville history and 2nd alltime scorer in SWBL history with 1,785 points. His four-year average was 20.5 points with a game high of 45 points.Josh received All-Ohio honors two years. He earned 1st Team All-SWBL 3 times, was SWBL Scoring Championtwice and SWBL Player of the Year 1996-97. In 1995-96 and 1996-97, Josh was selected on the Southwestern OhioDistrict (SWOD) 1st Team. One of his most memorable moments was playing in the North / South All-Star Game.In football, Josh earned 1st Team All-SWBL for two years. He was Most Valuable Player for two years and earnedAll Southwestern Ohio District honors in 1996-97. Josh made the switch to quarterback throwing for over 1,000 yardsin 1996-97. He owns a school record with most completions in a game at 16. In state playoffs in 1994-95, the teamhad a 9-1 record.In baseball, the team was SWBL Champs two of Josh’s three years. In 1996, Josh hit .348. He was 1st Team AllSWBL and voted Best Defensive Player that year with a .904 fielding average.Josh had a full athletic scholarship at Dawson College in Glendive, MT. He received a full basketball scholarship at Division I MercerUniversity in Macon, GA. Josh resides in West Alexandria with his wife, Traci, and two children. He is a Pre-K through 6th grade elementary school principal and head basketball coach at Tri-Village. Josh's parents are Mick (BHS ’74) and Debbie (BHS ’73) Sagester. His sisteris Brooke Clevenger (BHS 2004).3

Jim received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ohio University and a Master of ScienceDegree from the University of Dayton. He has also performed Advance Studiesat Miami University, University of Dayton, and Wright State University.Jim has spent most of his career in the education field. At BHS, he taughtEnglish, Speech, Drama, Journalism, and directed plays from 1962-1964. Then,he served two years in the United States Army. He returned in 1968-1969teaching English and Speech, as well as directing plays. Next, he was principalat Westbrook Elementary from 1981 to 1993. In Maryland, Jim began teaching5th grade in 2003.Jim is married to Dianna (Bowman) ’64, and he has two children and threegrandchildren.Jim has excelled not only as an educator but also in theater. Jim’s involvement in local community theater, Brookville, OH, and Lynchburg, VA, Renaissance Theatre, and College productions has provided him vast and varied experiences. As a Brookville Community Theatre Founder, Outstanding Ohio Educator, Election Official in Lynchburg, VA, Darke County Board of Mental Health Member,Life Member Ohio PTA, Theater Director and Play Director, his time and energy have benefited many.Hall of Honor — Outstanding Alumnus Award Recipient: David DetrickDavid Detrick graduated from Brookville High School in 1924. David attended Wittenberg Collegeand Ohio State University.David began his professional career with Gem City Savings and enjoyed a 48-year relationship withthe firm. He rose to the position of Chairman, Gem City Savings Association before his retirement.David married the former Ruth Hadeler and was married for over 74 years. He has 2 children and 5grandchildren. He currently resides in Florida.David’s many accomplishments include Chairman, Gem City Savings Association, Miami Valley Hospital Board of Directors, Dayton Metropolitan YMCA Board of Directors, Camp Kern Committee Member,Sinclair College Founding Board Member, Oakwood School Board Member, and Executive Committee Member Ohio Savings & Loan League.4
