An Invitation to Join UsDear Friends and Pilgrims,Rev. Sir Felix Just, SJThe Holy Land is a “Living Bible,” since getting to know the land where Jesus lived helps us tounderstand his teachings more clearly, know and love him more intimately, and follow him morefaithfully. For many centuries, Christians have visited the Holy Land to see the sites where Jesus wasborn and lived, taught and healed. For millennia, pilgrims have yearned to encounter the places ofhis suffering, death, and resurrection, as well as the places where the first Christian communitiesdeveloped. Imagine yourself as a contemporary pilgrim, walking in the footsteps of Jesus: inNazareth, his childhood home, in the other villages of Galilee, where his ministry began, and inJerusalem, where it came to its culmination. Imagine yourself retracing the steps of Peterand Mary and the other disciples, and seeing with your own eyes what they saw. As we emergefrom the pandemic and related struggles of the last few years, what place is better than thehomeland of Jesus for reconnecting with your faith and with God’s sustaining love?We invite you to join us on this 15-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land at Christmastime 2022-2023.Together, we will visit many of the sites we hear about in the Scriptures and celebrate during theChristmas season. We will have opportunities to read and reflect on the Bible, and to pray, dine, talk, learn, explore, and laugh together. Each day, we will celebrate Mass at a sacred site associatedwith Jesus’ life. The first week of our pilgrimage will be centered in the region of Galilee, in thenorthern part of Israel, with our lodgings in Nazareth and on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. Duringthe second week, we will stay in the Old City of Jerusalem and also visit nearby sites, includingBethlehem. Each day we will have time for personal prayer, biblical reflection, group sharing, delicious meals, and even some shopping. We will also encounter the people of this region, including some whose families have lived in the Holy Land for thousands of years.Ms. Gail GresserThis brochure gives you a detailed itinerary for each day of our pilgrimage. Our trip will be very safe, abiding by all vaccination and Covid-protocols of the local governments. Space is limited, so pleaseregister as soon as possible. We hope you can join us on this biblical journey, exploring the land ofJesus, reflecting on the Word of God, and renewing our lives of faith.Shalom/Salaam/Peace be with you!Our Daily ItineraryMonday, Dec 26, Day 1: Depart Los Angeles Depart Los Angeles en route to Tel Aviv withcomplimentary meals and beverages served on boardTuesday, Dec 27, Day 2: Arrive Tel Aviv Arrive at Tel Aviv airport in the evening Meet our Catholic Travel Centre tour guide outsideof baggage claim in the arrival hall Transfer to our hotel in Tel Aviv, check-in Dinner on our own due to late arrival timeWednesday, Dec 28, Day 3: Tel Aviv / Jaffa / Caesarea / Nazareth Breakfast at hotel, check-out Travel to Jaffa Mass at St. Peter’s Church Visit the harbor, Simon the Tanner’s house, and enjoy viewsof Tel Aviv and the Mediterranean Sea Lunch included at Port Café, Jaffa Travel to Caesarea Maritima, where we view the remainsof the ancient Roman theater, harbor and aqueduct Drive to Nazareth, the home village of Mary and Joseph Upon arrival in Nazareth, check-in to our rooms Dinner and overnight is at our accommodations (B, L, D)Thursday, Dec 29, Day 4: Nazareth: Visit of the Sites Breakfast at accommodations Visit the excavations of a 1st century street of Nazareth, located under the property of the Sisters of Nazareth(subject to confirmation) Visit St. Joseph’s Church Visit and Mass at the Basilica of the Annunciation Enjoy a 1st century lunch in Nazareth Village, a well-researchedreplica of how Nazareth looked during Jesus’ lifetime Free time to visit the city, spend more time in the Basilica, orperhaps visit Mary’s well Dinner is served at our accommodations (B, L, D)Friday, Dec 30, Day 5: Nazareth / Sepphoris / Cana / Galilee Breakfast at our accommodations, check-out Mass at the Nazareth Synagogue Church Travel to Sepphoris, the capital and most important city ofGalilee at the time of Jesus.
