Appendix I: Transfer ModuleAPPENDIX ITransfer ModuleThe Ohio Board of Regents Transfer and ArticulationPolicy established a transfer module for Ohio collegesand universities. The Transfer Module represents asubset of courses from among the general educationrequirements of the Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate ofScience (A.S.) and baccalaureate degrees at manyinstitutions. Applied degree students may choose to gobeyond the general education requirements of theirprogram and complete additional courses for the transfermodule. Transfer students with an earned A.A. or A.S.degree which contains an identifiable Transfer Modulewill have met the Transfer Module requirements of thereceiving institution. The application of transfer work togeneral education requirements which go beyond thosecontained in the Transfer Module will be done on acourse-by-course basis. Individual courses that are partof an approved Transfer Module are guaranteed totransfer among public institutions of higher education ona course-by-course basis. Students will receive credit forsuccessfully completed courses from the Transfer Modulewithout completing the entire module.Ohio Articulation Number (OAN)Pre-major courses that represent the commonly acceptedpathway to majors within the Bachelor’s degree (TransferAssurance Guides-TAGs) have been reviewed bystatewide faculty committees. Courses or coursesequences meeting established Learning Outcomestandards are assigned a discipline specific OhioArticulation Number (OAN). When consensus isestablished and a course is noted with both the collegesor universities departmental designation and theassigned Ohio Articulation Number (OAN), students areassured not only of the equivalency of the courses, but oftheir application to the degree objective. A completelisting of Cuyahoga Community Colleges OAN approvedcourses can be found in Appendix III and x.phpCourses within the Transfer Module may also be part ofan approved Transfer Assurance Guide (TAG). OANNumbers are listed below for courses that are also part ofan approved TAG.Note: The required minimum credits of the TransferModule should be completed from the remaining courseson the list below, including interdisciplinary courses.Students should meet with a counselor to assure thatcourses selected are most appropriate for the major andthe transfer college or university selected, and thatcourses are consistent with the minimum graduationrequirements of Cuyahoga Community College.English Composition: minimum of three semester hours with an emphasis on written compositionENG-1010ENG-101HENG-1020ENG-102HCollege Composition IHonors College Composition ICollege Composition IIHonors College Composition II3 Cr.3 Cr.3 Cr.3 Cr.Mathematics: minimum of three semester 1620MATH-162HMATH-2010420Technical Mathematics IIElementary Probability and Statistics IElementary Probability and Statistics IIModern Mathematics for Business/Social Sciences IModern Mathematics for Business/Social Sciences IITrigonometryCollege AlgebraPre-CalculusCalculus IOAN Approved: OMT 005Honors Calculus ICalculus IIOAN Approved: OMT 006Honors Calculus IIIntroduction to Discrete Mathematics5 Cr.3 Cr.3 Cr.4 Cr.4 Cr.3 Cr.4 Cr.5 Cr.5 Cr.5 Cr.5 Cr.5 Cr.4 Cr.Cuyahoga Community College Catalog 2010-2011

Appendix II: Transfer Assurance GuidesAPPENDIX IITransfer Assurance GuidesOhio Transfer InitiativesThe State of Ohio through the leadership of the OhioBoard of Regents has established a coherent statewidepolicy intended to facilitate a student’s ability tocomplete their highest level of educational goalachievement seamlessly within Ohio’s postsecondaryeducational system. To that end, the Ohio Articulationand Transfer php wasdeveloped to facilitate the transfer of students and creditsfrom any state-assisted college or university to another. Itencourages faculty recognition of comparable andcompatible learning experiences and expectations acrossinstitutions. It also encourages students to complete“units” of educational experience as they progress [e.g.transfer assurance guides, transfer modules, associateand baccalaureate degrees].Transfer Assurance GuidesStatewide Transfer Assurance Guides (TAGs) arecomposed of General Education Courses (TransferModule courses) and specified courses required for theacademic major. A TAG as an advising tool can assistOhio college and college bound students planningspecific majors to make course selections that will ensurecomparable, compatible, and equivalent learningexperiences across the state’s higher-education system.TAGs apply across, at least, all public higher educationinstitutions in Ohio and embody commonly acceptedpathways to majors within the Bachelor’s degree. TAGapproved courses are assigned an Ohio ArticulatedNumber (OAN) and are accepted and applied to themajor at all Ohio public colleges and universities. Majorspecific TAG pathways in the arts, humanities, business, communication, education, health, mathematics, science, engineering, engineering technologies, and the socialsciences have been developed by faculty teams.Additional information on specific Transfer AssuranceGuides can be found on the Ohio Board of Regents Website: www.regents.ohio.gov/transfer/tags/index.phpTAGs enable students to make informed course selectiondecisions and plans for their future transfer. Advisors atthe institution to which a student wishes to transfershould also be consulted during the transfer process.Because of specific major requirements, earlyidentification of the intended major is encouraged.Ohio Articulation Number (OAN)Pre-major courses that represent the commonly acceptedpathway to majors within the Bachelor’s degree (TAGs)have been reviewed by statewide faculty committees.Courses or course sequences meeting establishedLearning Outcome standards are assigned a disciplinespecific Ohio Articulation Number (OAN). Whenconsensus is established and a course is noted with boththe colleges or universities departmental designation andthe assigned Ohio Articulation Number (OAN), studentsare assured not only of the equivalency of the courses, but of their application to the degree objective. Appendix III: Career Technical Assurance GuidesAPPENDIX IIICareer Technical Assurance GuidesCareer Technical Assurance GuidesCareer Technical Credit TransferCareer Technical Credit Transfer (CT2) is a collaborativeeffort among the Ohio Board of Regents, the OhioDepartment of Education’s Office of Career-Technical &Adult Education, public secondary/adult career-technicaleducation institutions and state supported institution ofhigher education. The career technical credit transferinitiative further expands the state of Ohio’s articulationand transfer efforts. It ensures that students at an adultcareer-technical institution or secondary career-technicaleducation institution can transfer successfully completedtechnical courses that adhere to recognized industrystandards to any state institution of higher educationwithout unnecessary duplication or institutional barriers. It enables students to attain their highest educationalaspirations in the most efficient and effective manner as aresult of clear and consistent standards. Career TechnicalCredit Transfer is meant to complement the College TechPrep program. Additional information can be found onthe Ohio Board of Regents web dex.phpCareer Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGS) serve asadvising tools, identifying the course or program whichis part of the statewide guarantee. CTAGS also describeadditional conditions or obligations (e.g. programaccreditation or industry credential) associated with theguarantee. The ultimate goal of Career Technical CreditTransfer is to receive technical course credit at a publicinstitution of higher education.Career-Technical Articulation Number (CTAN)A CTAN consists of learning outcomes representingknowledge and skills in a technical area needed totransition from career –technical education to publicinstitutions of higher education. Learning outcomes arebased on recognized industry standards established byfaculty panels. Each CTAN in the technical area isassigned an identifying number.
