The students will receive highschool and college credits simultaneously. The Dual Credit Program will allow high schoolstudents to engage in academic degree pathways with the intention of possibly attaininga certificate or degree by the end of their high school career. Students enrolled in the DualCredit Program will benefit from the reduction in time to complete a degree along with nocost for tuition and fees.Dual credit courses provide high school students an affordable opportunity to experiencecollege-level courses. Dual credit courses are taught by Diné College credentialedadjunct faculty who instruct high school students on campus and/or in the high school,via face-to-face instruction or distance education (online, ITV, hybrid) instruction. Dualcredit courses are taught using the College curriculum by adjunct faculty who teach oncollege and/or high school campuses. 7Section 2: Admissions and Registration Process1. Enrollment. Placement Test and RegistrationEntry for students into the Dual Credit Program is guided by the high school counselors,teachers, principals and parents. The high school will designate a point of contact for theDirector of Dual Credit Enrollment Management to ensure all dual credit students meetthe set deadlines to submit all proper admission and registration documentation. Throughthe course selection and registration processes, dual credit students will have theopportunity to earn credits towards a specific degree program within the College.Diné College Dual Credit Program Requirements1. Diné College Dual Credit Billing ProcessNew MexicoDiné College maintains compliance with Federal Statutes, New Mexico Higher EducationDepartment, Arizona Department of Education and the Office of Navajo NationScholarships and Financial Assistance (ONNSFA).Diné College’s internal billing process for dual credit students complies withreimbursement policies set forth by the New Mexico Higher Education Department(pertaining to Tribal Colleges and Universities dual credit funding).In the State of New Mexico, Diné College dual credit students will only be billed a tuitionrate of 50 per credit hour without fees. Diné College will waive application, technologyand activity fees for dual credit students.If a student receives a final letter grade of “D,” “F,” or “W,” the student will inherit anoutstanding bill with the College, which will need to be paid using personal funds. Placement TestingAll dual credit students must abide by the standard College’s Writing and MathematicsPlacement Test.Writing and Math Placement Assessment OverviewRequirements in place to meet placement assessment for Writing and Math. Acceptance into Diné College with all documents submitted to the OfficeAdmission at Tsaile CampusOffice High School TranscriptOffice High School SAT Scores (Must have been taken within the last 5 years)Writing PlacementEnglish faculty will conduct writing Placement Assessment. All incoming first yearstudents will be enrolled in ENG 101. English faculty will be doing their own pretest onthe first day of class to determine if they remain in ENG 101 or promoted to ENG 102 –College Composition II.Mathematics PlacementThe Admissions Office will determine student enrollment in MTH 100, 102, 106 of 110,based on one of three options: (1) Official High School Transcript, (2) SAT/ACT scores,or (3) high school equivalency credential scores.Exceptions: transfer students who have successfully completed college level Englishand/or Mathematics at another institution must provide an official transcript of previouscoursework. The Transcript Evaluator and the Office of Admissions determine the validitypf the transfer grade.4. 14Instructor PayIn accordance with Arizona and New Mexico Dual Credit policies, dual credit adjunctfaculty are financially supported by the school district or high school annual contracts.Post-secondary institutions will not pay dual credit adjunct faculty.Curriculum1.2.Courses offered through the dual credit program will be the same curriculum asthe college-level work for which high school students will earn both high schooland college credit. Course materials, textbooks, assignments, and assessmentswill follow the Diné College course outcomes.The Diné College School Dean reserves the right to determine which courses areeligible for dual credit.Dual Credit Course Delivery MethodsDual Credit courses will be delivered on the Diné College campuses, centers, at thehigh schools, online or approved Higher Learning Commission sites.Section 4. Dual Credit Adjunct Faculty Credentialing ProcessPotential adjunct faculty teaching dual credit courses at Diné College meet or exceed theminimum level education for adjunct faculty as specified by Diné College. College coursesoffered by Diné College are listed in the current Diné College Catalog. Official transcriptsand other credentials are kept on file in the Diné College Human Resources Department.ApplicationPotential Adjunct Faculty must submit a completed official Diné College EmploymentApplication with all required documents to the Diné College Department of HumanResources.Credentialing Adjunct Instructors for Dual Credit CoursesAfter potential adjunct faculty has submitted all required documents to the Diné CollegeDepartment of Human Resources, the application is routed to the specified Diné CollegeSchool Dean for approval. College is authorized to participate in this Agreement underthe Tribally Controlled Schools Act, 25 U.S.C. §2501 et seq. This Agreement and its useare mandated under A.R.S. § 15-1821.01(1).RECITALSWHEREAS, College and School District desire to increase the educational options andopportunities for the School District's high school students and increase the overall qualityof instruction and learning available through secondary schools; andWHEREAS, dual credit programs allow students to earn credit at the secondary andpostsecondary levels simultaneously. The programs may also encourage more studentsto consider academic or career technical higher education, especially students fromunderrepresented groups; andWHEREAS, research indicates that dual credit programs can lead to better completionrates for both high school and college; reduce the need for remediation; shorten time toa diploma or degree completion; reduce the cost of higher education; reinforce theconcept of life-long learning through an educational continuum; provide an alternative forstudents tempted to leave high school to enter the workforce; and, especially whenoffered through distance learning, provide equal access to higher education opportunitiesto students, whether rural or urban.NOW THEREFORE, College and School District have determined that it is in the bestinterests of the residents and students of the School District to offer college level coursesthat may be counted toward both high school and college graduation requirements at theDistrict's high school during the school day under the terms and conditions set forth below.AGREEMENTAPPROVED BY ACADEMIC AND STUDENT SUCCESSCOMMITTEE ON 8/13/21. 17In consideration of the mutual promises contained herein, the Parties agree as follows:1.PURPOSEThe purpose of this Agreement is to set forth the understanding of the Parties asto their respective responsibilities and rights in providing Dual Enrollment Courses,as defined in Section 2 below, to eligible School District students.2.DEFINITIONPursuant to A. R .S. § 15-101 (11), a "Dual Enrollment Course" is defined as acollege level course that is conducted on the campus of a high school or on thecampus of a joint technological education district, and that is:a.applicable to an established community college academic degree orcertificate program, and transferable to a college or university under thejurisdiction of the Arizona Board of Regents; orb.applicable to a community college occupational degree or certificateprogram; andc.3.notwithstanding the foregoing, physical education shall not be available asa Dual Enrollment Course.EFFECTIVE DATE AND TERMThis Agreement shall be effective:4.a.andAfter the governing boards of School District and College have approved it;b.On the date that authorized representatives of both Parties have signed it("Effective Date"). The term of this Agreement shall be for no more than one(1) year, beginning on the Effective Date through June 30, 20 ("Term");c.The continuation of this Agreement beyond the initial fiscal year isdependent on and subject to the appropriation and availability of funding foreach Party in each subsequent fiscal year. If sufficient funding is not madeavailable to allow a Party to continue meeting its contractual obligationsunder this Agreement, that Party shall so notify the other Party and eitherParty may cancel this Agreement and have no further obligation to the otherParty. Must be full-time status at high school with at least a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) or Principal/ Guidance Counselor approval. 2.
