Directed by the Secretary of the Army on 30 January 2008in response to recommendation by the “Commission onArmy Acquisition and Program Management inExpeditionary Operations” (known as the GanslerCommission). Commission recommendation was to establish a single“Army Contracting Command,” responsible for makingcontracting an Army, high-quality, core-competence.
