Bridge DisabilityMinistries honorsthe God-givendignity andgiftedness ofpeople withdisabilities;therefore we buildrelationships toalleviate isolationand enrich ourchurches andcommunities.2015 was a year ofspectacular growth inall our ministries. We continue to buildupon the foundationand hard work of thosewho came and servedbefore us, reaching outand helping our friendsliving with physical anddevelopmentaldisabilities lead more“connected” lives. Our ministries areabout building bridges.First, we are a bridgeto physical access tothe world. Our MeyerMedical EquipmentCenter distributedmore than 3.1Min durable medicalequipment such aswheelchairs, walkers, and more to those inneed. Second, we area bridge to security formore than 50 adults byacting as legalguardian and advocatefor their financial, health care, and shelterneeds. And last, butmost definitely not theleast, we are a bridgeto inclusion andbelonging in areachurches and faithcommunities. Ourpartner churchescelebrate our friendswith disabilities everymonth with an openinvitation for fellowshipand worship.Every one of ourfriends is part of God’sglory and is worthy ofactive participation inthe life of ourcommunity. erhtgaserdntnfrie ur parrOu e of oryneovendataseodchorfurchfohtnip.mohsowllefOur Spiritual Connections ministrycoordinated 11 Sunday Evening Celebrations (SEC). Theseworship and fellowship events, hosted in partnership with area churches, celebrated and touched 773 people. Our bible study small group, called Roots ’n Wings, had 10sessions and gathered 58 participants and volunteers.More importantly, we took the first steps this year toward collaborating with churches to makesure our friends become a vibrant and valued participant in a faith community: we finished theawareness and assessment tool for distribution and input from faith communities. We know anaccessible heart is a community that sees first a member of the Body of Christ and then anindividual with a disability.Spiritual Connections: a bridge to inclusionand belonging in faith communities

GuardianshipAgency:a bridge tosecurity andprotectionBridge’s guardianship agencyprovides guardianship and casemanagement services for 51 adultswith developmental, and oftencomplex, disabilities. Our courtappointed certified professionalguardians are committed to overseeand advocate for our clients onfinancial matters, housing, legalissues, activities of daily living , andhealth/medical care. We ensure theadults in our care have multipleopportunities to be included in socialactivities and are able to formrelationships and contribute to thelife of their communities. Our guardianship agency wasfounded as a result of a visit to aninstitution housing people withdevelopmental disabilities more than20 years ago. We are grateful for thelong history of collaboration withother organizations, individuals, families, over 50 churches, foundations and 600 volunteers. Most importantly, we are gratefulthat we are a God-centeredorganization. How else can ourguardians be the best advocate forour folks without Him as partner?

MeyerMedicalEquipmentCenter:a bridge tophysicalaccess to theworldBridge’s Meyer Medical EquipmentCenter had a record year. Thecenter distributed durable medicalequipment worth 3,106,097, a66% increase from our 2014distribution. Our medical equipmentministry is only as good as thedonations of used, sometimes new, durable medical equipment that weget from individuals and businessesalike. Our volunteers clean and, ifnecessary, repair the equipment, install new batteries in the electricalequipment, and provide them topeople regardless of their ability topay. Items distributed range frompower wheelchairs to walkers,Hoyer lifts, toilet seats, transferbenches, hospital beds and more. When a person’s mobility iscompromised, the absence of awheelchair or scooter is so muchmore than just an inconvenience. Aperson with physical disabilitycannot easily enter into the life oftheir community, and as a result, their access to healthcare, socialservices, employment, educationalopportunities, cultural events, andbasic human contact are all madedifficult, if not impossible. In 2015, we forged partnerships andcollaborated with 3 area hospitalsand agencies. The SnoqualmieValley Hospital, Valley MedicalHospital and Mount Si Senior Centerwill be additional medical equipmentdistribution centers for Bridge tobenefit low-income patients whocannot afford needed equipmentotherwise. We served 2,452 people in 2015.People who receive donated equipment often “re-donate “ the equipment whenno longer needed, ensuring that others will benefit from its use as well.

623 volunteers gave anestimated 6989 hours ofservice to Bridge. All thosehours are equivalent to 161,236 in contributions.“Volunteersare love inmotion”THANKYOU!

He needed a gaittrainer to complete his recovery from brain surgery.Unfortunately, as happens too often, the family’s insurancerefused to pay for appropriate rehab equipment. Happily,Bridge had a brand new gait trainer worth well over 2000 still in its box, through the generosity of OlympicPharmacy. It was perfect for Jackson’s needs. AndBridge was able to provide it to Jackson’s family at nocharge!Update: Just 6 months later, Jackson is now able towalk without the aid of a gait trainer. Early this year,he donated the equipment back to Bridge soother kids can use it too!Be our partner in helping families like Jackson'swww.bridgemin.org/get-involved/donate/

Bridge Disability Ministries honors the God-given dignity and giftedness of people with disabilities; health care, and shelter therefore we build relationships to alleviate isolation and enrich our churches and communities. 2015 was a year of spectacular growth in all our ministries.
