RIC Workshop Update – 9/21/2015Executive SummaryThis report is a summary of current activities and progress regarding our FirstNet and RIC Workshopinitiative. From our current registration data we need to continue to improve city and countyparticipation in our workshops and in collecting data for FirstNet. We need participation from all of thecounties in each Iowa Homeland Security Region in our Regional Interoperability Committees (RIC).FirstNetSigned into law on February 22, 2012, the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act created the FirstResponder Network Authority (FirstNet). The law gives FirstNet the mission to build, operate andmaintain the first high-speed, nationwide wireless broadband network dedicated to public safety.FirstNet will provide a single interoperable platform for emergency and daily public safety.communications.MDST SurveyThis information will be used in our FirstNet and LMR (Land Mobile Radio) planning and in an effort toimprove information for Public Safety.
