Chapter 1: IntroductionThis reference guide provides an overview on Rapid Connect processing functionality for the Petroleum industry. This document is intended to be used in conjunction with the Universal Message Format specification (UMF).The Petroleum industry consists of fuel, convenience store, car wash, tire shops and repair service merchants. Fuelmerchants support card present transactions. In addition to inside terminal or point of sale transactions, AutomatedFuel Dispenser (AFD) may be supported for outside card based sales. Fleet cards are a supported form of paymentfor the Petroleum industry.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 6

Chapter 2: Payment AcceptancePartial AuthorizationPartial Authorization is an authorization response to a transaction request with approval for a portion of the totalamount requested. Point of sale support of Partial Authorization is mandated by the card associations. Fees fornon-compliance with this requirement are regularly applied to merchant transactions that do not support PartialAuthorization. The following facts are critical when processing Partial Authorization transactions: The POS device must prompt for a second form of tender for and remaining balance of a Partially Authorizedtransaction. If a Cash Back amount is sent in the transaction request, the Partially Authorized response will not includeCash Back. Therefore, Cash Back amounts cannot be included in the final sale amount of the PartiallyAuthorized transaction. Void/Full Reversal capability is required for Partially Approved transactions. The customer must have theoption to not complete the purchase, for example; when only one form of payment is available to thecardholder.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 13

Partial Authorization Approval CapabilityPartial Authorization Approval Capability is an identifier used to indicate whether or not the terminal/software cansupport partial authorization approvals. Please refer to the UMF for Partial Authorization Approval Capability field requirements.Rapid Connect supports the following Transaction Types for Partial Authorization in the Petroleum industry:Payment TypeCard TypesApplicable Transaction TypesVisaMasterCardCreditAuthorizationAmerican ExpressSaleDiscover NetworkDinersJCB (US epaid Closed Loop (PpayCL)Redemption UnlockTrack Data StorageRegulatory requirements regarding data storage mandate that the merchant device must not store full magneticstripe data, including track data. For Debit, EBT Cash, and EBT SNAP in addition to the track and data storageprohibition, the merchant device must also not store PIN block data. Please refer to the UMF for Track Data requirements.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 14

2.1 Credit CardBelow are examples of various features of Credit Cards and descriptions.AVSAddress Verification Service (AVS) is a feature that also helps reduce chargebacks, as well as fraudulent use of lostor stolen cards. AVS is supported for Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover (including Diners and JCB(US Domestic). The AVS Result Code is the response resulting from checking the cardholder‘s postal code, and anyadditional address information provided, against the Issuer‘s system of record. If the AVS Result Code was provided in the initial transaction response, it must be included with the transactioncompletion. The AVS Result Code does not directly impact an approved or declined transaction response, howevershould be considered for payment acceptance by the merchant. Transactions with a missing or invalid addressmatch will downgrade.CCVCVV2, CVC2 and CID (referred to in Rapid Connect as CCV Data) are, Visa, MasterCard, American Express andDiscover card verification tools designed to reduce fraud losses. With the exception of American Express, this is athree character value printed on the back of the card in the signature panel, after the card number. For AmericanExpress, it is a four character value printed on the face of the card. Please refer to the UMF for the description and value sets for CCV and AVS Result Code.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 15

Contactless PaymentContactless Payment is similar to traditional swipe card payment, except information is transmitted by a radiofrequency (RF) antenna embedded within a plastic card. Contactless Payment works with point of sale equipmentor terminals equipped with an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) reader. The card wirelessly transmits Track 1and/or Track 2 payment details to the terminal when tapped or waved near the contactless card reader.Discounts, Fees and FinesFor First Data merchants, explanations of fees and fines are available to merchants in their Merchant OperatingGuide, Merchant Application or Processing Agreement, or by calling the Customer Service phone number on theirmonthly merchant statement Interchange Discount fees are assessed on Credit and Non-PIN Debit (Signature) transactions. The feescollected may be a percentage of the transaction, a flat amount per transaction, or a combination of the two.oFees collected by the merchant’s payment processing provider are paid to the card associations, issuingbanks, and depending on merchant agreement, payment processor. Association Fees are those billed by the card associations (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, etc.) and vary. Compliance Fines can be assessed by First Data or the Card Associations when a merchant is not followingrules, regulations and mandates for their payment card acceptance practices.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 16

Interchange FeesInterchange fees vary based upon a complex series of interchange levels and depend upon a number of factors, such as: The type of credit card being presented Transaction information included in request and completion How and/or when the transaction is processed The merchants industry Other factorsSome of these factors can be influenced by the merchant and payment application, others cannot.Below are examples of factors which can be influenced by the merchant and/or payment application:Better QualificationDowngrade Reason Settlement within the same business day Settlement greater than 2 days Valid Electronic Authorization No authorization Validation Code / Tran ID present Missing Validation Code / Tran ID Card Present (Swiped, Contactless) Key entered (Manual) Authorized and Settlement amount match Settled and Authorized amounts do not matchRapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 17

Association Fees and Compliance FinesAll merchants will pay Association Fees, but there are factors that influence these assessments that can result inhigher or lower fees. In addition, Compliance Fines are incurred when payment applications or merchant businesspractices do not meet requirements and mandates.Example of several factors contributing to higher Association fees or Compliance fines: No offsetting transaction: Merchants can be assessed a fine for each approved authorization request that isnot settled or reversed. Downgraded interchange: Transactions subject to downgraded interchange may also be subject to higherAssociation fees. Not enabled for Partial Authorization: Fines occur when merchants are not using a payment application incompliance with Partial Authorization mandates.Chargeback risk reductionFor hand keyed transactions, an imprint of the front of the card (raised numbers and text) and the cardholder’ssignature is required at the time of sale. This helps protect the merchant from potential chargebacks.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 18

2.2 PIN Debit CardPIN entry is required for all PIN Debit requests at the Point of Sale, except Time Out Reversals and VoidsRapid Connect supports Void/Full Reversals for PIN Debit Sale and Authorization transactions Merchants must have a contractual agreement with their bank alliance to support Debit Voids/ Full Reversalin order to implement this payment featureRapid Connect supports Refund transactions for PIN Debit Cards Debit Refund transactions do not support Cash Back amounts Merchant policies regarding Debit cards may or may not support Refunds on Debit cards Merchants must have a contractual agreement with their bank alliance to support Debit Refunds in order toimplement this payment featurePIN Debit Cards may support Signature Debit transactions where no PIN is required (may be referred to as “CheckCards”). In Rapid Connect, transactions occurring on this type of card (no pin) would be processed as a Credit Cardtransaction. This is not the same as PINless POS Debit, which is discussed further on the following pageRapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 19

2.3 PINless POS DebitPINless POS Debit is an optional payment feature which allows certain ‘traditional PIN’ transactions to be processedwithout a PIN. PINless POS Debit provides additional routing options for Card Present Merchants without a PINpad. The Point of Sale will include the PINless POS Debit Flag in the request message. If the transaction wasapproved as a Debit transaction, First Data will send back the transaction response as being processed as Debit.PINLess POS Debit is supported in the following transactions: Authorization sent by a terminal capture merchant as a Credit Authorization and approved as a DebitAuthorization Sale sent by a host capture merchant as a Credit Sale and approved as a Debit Sale Refund sent by a host capture merchant as a Credit Refund and approved as a Debit RefundPINLess POS Debit is NOT supported in the following scenarios: Manually keyed transactions Cash Back Automated Fuel Dispensers Transactions where the final amount is not known (restaurants with tip, hotels, car rental)Void procedures will follow the payment type that was used for the original Authorization and Sale transaction. If approved as Debit, must be processed as Debit in the Void transaction If approved as Credit, must be processed as Credit in the Void transactionRapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 20

2.4 EBT CardRapid Connect supports EBT Cash Benefits.EBT stands for Electronic Benefit Transaction. State and county agencies issue cash benefits for various needs.EBT Cash BenefitsEBT Cash benefits can be spent like cash wherever EBT payments are accepted. EBT Cash transactions must beSwiped. Manual key entry is not supported.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 21

2.5 Prepaid CardPrepaid Closed LoopFirst Data Prepaid Closed Loop solutions are designed to be used only within the issuers’ network of locations.Examples of closed loop issuers include retail stores, casinos, oil companies, telecommunications companies, andrestaurants.Note: Prepaid Closed Loop Void/Full Reversal Transactions where the POS Entry Mode 90 or 91 was sent on theoriginal transaction must be sent with the POS Entry Mode 01 using the account number received in the originalAuthorization response.Generic PrepaidRapid Connect supports Pont of Sale transactions with multiple prepaid card programs.Prepaid resellers have relationships with many prepaid card issuers and merchant retailers, which usemerchandising displays for customers to easily select prepaid cards. Cards are activated at the merchant retailerpoint of sale, and then work much like a prepaid closed loop card for merchant specific programs, or as open loopprepaid for cards that carry the acquirer brand.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 22

2.6 Private LabelRapid Connect supports Private Label payments on Generic Proprietary card transactions. Private Label cards workmuch like a Credit card, and are only eligible for purchases made at merchants that support Generic Proprietarycards.Private Label programs are unique and clients that wish to implement a Private Label program should consult a GPMrepresentative.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 23

2.7 ChecksRapid Connect supports check transactions for Certegy and TeleCheck, for Paper check processing; TeleCheck ECAfor Electronic Check Acceptance processing.Merchants must establish an account with their check service provider prior to implementing check acceptance.TeleCheck ECA The TeleCheck Electronic Check Acceptance (ECA) service converts a paper check into an electronic item at thepoint of sale. TeleCheck ECA checks are authorized through a specially-designed, secure TeleCheck system thatcaptures banking information and the amount of the check. The check-writers’ signature is required on approvedECA transactions, authorizing TeleCheck to electronically present the check to the check-writers’ financial institutionand deposit funds to the merchants' account. TeleCheck ECA allows the merchant to obtain an authorizationimmediately, and then return the check and a transaction receipt to the check-writer at the point of sale.Rapid Connect supports Sale and Void transactions for TeleCheck ECA, including MICR only and MICR with Dual ID.Depending on the merchant agreement with TeleCheck, the MICR only or Dual ID will be required for electroniccheck processing. MICR only processing relies on the electronic capture of the check MICR. In addition toelectronically capturing the MICR, Dual ID processing also captures check-writer information from a State orGovernment issued form of Identification. Not all checks will be ECA approved. Some checks will be approved as paper only. When a paper approval isreceived, electronic conversion has not taken place and the merchant must deposit the check for payment.TeleCheck ECA transactions do not support manually entered MICR data. Manually keyed check transactions forAuthorization require the merchant to deposit the check for payment.Rapid Connect Petroleum Quick Reference GuideConfidential and Proprietary to First Data 24
