DYSPHAGIA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMSDMS Speech Pathology In-Practice Ancillary Service For Dysphagia DMS offers remote and on-site diagnostics and therapies for patients suffering from dysphagia. These therapies are a vital complementary service to the physician's specific specialty and thevarious treatments the patient is receiving. DMS offers the Dysphagia Systems Test (DST) as a means to diagnose the patient's swallowingissues. The DST utilizes a fiberoptic endoscope to gain a view of the swallow. The DST is how ourSLP Dysphagia Specialists assess your patient's risk of aspiration, choking, dehydration, malnutrition, reflux, penetration, weight loss, increased congestion, pneumonia, and failure to thrive. A comprehensive evaluation of the patient's speech-language cognition is completed in order todevelop a management plan that is functional, and can be operationalized at home. The DMS@Home TeleTherapy Portal allows patients to be seen from the safety of their own home with Medicare/Insurance allowing for full reimbursement.Partnership with DMS DMS provides services as a contracted Speech Pathologists within your practice or surgery centerwalls. We hold the license, the liability and insurance, and provide all of the equipment. The Physician’s Practice provides an empty treatment room with an available sink to be used by theDMS SLP at the appointed times. No other commitment of equipment, capital, or monetaryguarantees are required. Patients are referred by the Physicians in the Practice. The DMS SLP comes to the Practice andperforms the services. Reports are written on site, and uploaded to the physician’s documentationsystem, and the billing sheet is filled out and either entered or given to the assigned biller. The Practice bills the services through their billing system, and receives the funds from theappropriate insurance or private pay patient. The Practice collects the co-pay or deductible from thepatient at the time of service, and DMS helps assure that those funds are collected. DMS invoices on a 30-day delay in order to facilitate collections. DMS historically does not receive clinical denials of service as medical necessity is establishedbefore service provision.2

DYSPHAGIA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMSCreating an Additional Revenue Stream with DMS This much needed service is additive to the practice. The revenue (insurance and Medicarepays 80%) is established, and the remaining co-pays to the patient are minimal. The resultingservice is a win-win-win for the Practice, the Patient, and DMS. DMS is a referral-based service. Our patients secure the appointment with a credit card tocover cancellations without notice. There is no additional cost to the practice for thesecancellations. DMS does not require minimum numbers of referrals. DMS provides services in a multitude offacilities in your state and our specialists can schedule accordingly.Grow Your Practice with DMS Dysphagia is a major geriatric syndrome that is often under-diagnosed and undertreated.Patients suffering the effects of dysphagia exhibit a myriad of symptoms that affect theirrecovery from a primary disease, and can significantly alter their quality of life. Patients are often discharged from the hospital, nursing home, or home health care with onlya minimum of care. These patients are returning to the community without being identified, educated, or rehabilitated properly, and possibly have a new diagnosis. These patients areurgently searching for somewhere to be treated effectively for their dysphagia. The patient who typically comes to a DMS In-Practice Partner has seen 7 physicians, and afew therapists, to attempt to treat their myriad of symptoms. We've put those piecestogether. DMS provides a service for an underserved population of patients, and reaches those whoneed this therapy the most. Many of those patients are in your practice. Gastroenterology, Neurology, Pulmonology, ENT and Internal Medicine all have patients thatcan benefit from a coordination of care with a reasonable dysphagia management plan.3
