The First Class Condition Card located inthe cover of this booklet will help you to identify what isconsidered excess wear and tear.Place the First Class Condition Card over an exterior orinterior blemish. The pre-inspection is flexibleand convenient. You can decide to have it conductedat your home, office or local dealership at a time thatworks for you.We encourage you to have your vehicle pre-inspectioncompleted between 45 and 90 days prior to your expectedreturn date to ensure enough time for maintenance orrepairs. Your insurance policy may even cover the cost ofsome work. Keep in mind you won’t be able to make anyrepairs once you return the vehicle to the dealership.Did you know? Tires & RimsRepairs or replacements are not necessary if:We recommend repairs be performedby an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealeror body shop to ensure the best qualityand avoid any unexpected charges.Please contact Mercedes-Benz FinancialServices at 1-866-202-6969 or visitwww.mercedes-benz.ca/endoflease toobtain a list of these authorized locations.The following pages will help youdetermine any excess wear and tear inpreparation for your pre-inspection.a. All four tires match the original tires in type*,size, load and speed rating with at least 0.32 cm(4/32 inches) of tread depth at greatest wear pointb. The tires on the same axle are of the same brand(4Matic vehicles must have all four tires of the same brand)c. The tires and rims match the original specifications(for Mercedes-Benz approved specifications, see stickerinside the driver’s door and Owner’s Manual). Please note,winter tires are not considered original equipmentd. The spare tire and rim (or inflation kit for those vehicleswithout a spare tire) are present and in operable conditione. The rims are not bent and they are free of breaks(regardless of the size)f. The tires are free of bulges, cuts, sidewall damageand abnormal wearg. Any wheel scratches and gouges pass the First ClassCondition Card Test*Some vehicles may have a special type of tires (e.g. summer performance tires)7Damage to the rims is only chargeable if it extends beyond theFirst Class Condition Card.Tire cuts, bulges, and sidewall damage are all chargeable regardlessof the size.VEHICLE RETURN PROCESSABCDEF

Mechanical & ElectricalInterior & ExteriorRepairs or replacements are not necessary if:Repairs or replacements are not necessary if:a. All maintenance service specified bythe manufacturer has been performedand documented by a stamped ServiceBooklet or a copy of the repair orderb. Any issues covered under warrantyhave been repairedc. All engine or drivetrain componentsare operabled. You still have your Service Booklet/Owner’s Manual/COMAND Manual/Service and Warranty Information Booklete. Both keys are returneda. The exterior is free of holes, tears or breaks(regardless of the size)b. Scratches are not through the paint(regardless of the size)c. Scratches through the paint and dents pass the FirstClass Condition Card TestHave you kept your service up to date? It’s one ofthe best ways to ensure a smooth vehicle return.9When assessing your vehicle’s exterior, keep inmind a maximum of 5 damage occurrences (thatpass the First Class Condition Card Test) per panelis acceptable. These ‘panels’ include the vehicle’sfront and rear bumper.d. The grille is free of any breakse. The interior is free of tears, cuts, holes, burns or stainsthat cannot be removed (regardless of the size)f. Any interior damage does not penetrate the fabric andpasses the First Class Condition Card TestDents are only chargeable if they extend beyond the First Class ConditionCard. Holes, tears, or breaks are chargeable regardless of the size.Scratches through the paint are only chargeable if they extend beyondthe First Class Condition Card.Interior scratches that do not penetrate the fabric are only chargeableif they extend beyond the First Class Condition Card.Bumper damage is only chargeable if it extends beyond the First ClassCondition Card. Glass & LensesRepairs or replacements are not necessary if:a. All glass and lenses are free of stars, cracks,or holesb. Any scratches can be covered by theFirst Class Condition Cardc. No more than 2 chips have been pluggedd. Any chips or plugs are smaller than 3 mme. Any chips or plugs sit outside the driver’sfield of vision defined by wiper pathf. Any aftermarket window tint is free of anyscratches, bubbling, tears, or discolouringWe recommend any windshield replacement be completed byan authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to ensure the repair meetsthe manufacturer’s specifications. Keep in mind windshieldreplacement is often covered by insurance. Check with yourinsurance agent.A “star” is a chip with one or more legs.A “plug” refers to any repair towindshield damage.Aftermarket Modifications orMissing & Broken PartsRepairs or replacements are not necessary if:a. All equipment leased with the vehicle and allfactory-installed parts are present, undamaged andin good working orderb. All modifications installed by an authorizedMercedes-Benz dealership are intactc. Any third-party, aftermarket alterations have beenrestored to their original condition, including but notlimited to: Lowering the Damage caused byvehicle’s suspensionthe removal of partsand accessories Changing the vehiclecolour or non factory Other aftermarketpaint schemesalterations not coveredby the manufacturer’s Spoiler and trailer hitchwarranty Holes in the frameNo charge with towhook cover.Chargeable if tow hookcover is missing.Please note, not all mechanical, electrical, structuraldamage, or damage resulting from alterations to thevehicle can be immediately uncovered during the vehiclepre-inspection process. Step 2: ReviewPre-Inspection ResultsOnce your third party pre-inspectionhas been completed, you can contactyour dealership with any questions youmay have regarding the results and theprocess to complete repairs. Your dealercan help you understand your optionsand any associated costs.Step 3: Return Your VehicleWe encourage you to contact yourdealership and set up an appointmentto return your vehicle. Scheduling anappointment in advance will ensure yourdealership is able to provide you withthe best possible experience.13Provided you have completed the necessarypre-inspection, your dealer will be able toperform a walk around to verify any changesto the vehicle’s condition.Upon vehicle return, you will be provided with a VehicleReturn Receipt. In most cases you will also be providedwith a Vehicle Condition Summary and a Lease-endStatement. However, if a third-party pre-inspectionwas not performed on your vehicle prior to returnor if the condition of your vehicle has changed sincethe vehicle pre-inspection was conducted, a VehicleCondition Summary and a Lease-end Statement maynot be available and a final third-party inspection maybe needed to determine your final kilometrage and anyexcess wear and tear.Step 4: Lease-End StatementIn the event you have not received the Lease-endStatement at the time of return, you will receive thisdocumentation in the mail. It will detail any chargesincurred for damages, kilometre overages or excesswear and tear.We hope these 4 steps will help to provide a seamlesstransition into your next Mercedes-Benz vehicle. Vehicle Condition ReviewThe following checklist will help you review your vehicle’s condition and prepare for your vehicle pre-inspection. If youcheck ‘yes’ to the following questions, your vehicle meets most of the Vehicle Condition Guidelines. Why is it important to have a vehicle pre-inspectioncompleted before returning my vehicle?The pre-inspection is an important part of the Lease ReturnProcess, as it provides you with a vehicle condition reviewand identifies excess wear and tear prior to your expectedreturn date. Not having a pre-inspection completed priorto returning your vehicle will put you at risk of unexpectedcharges appearing on your Lease-end Statement.17Once the pre-inspection is completed, we encourage youto contact your dealer, who will review the pre-inspectionresults with you and provide information regarding therepair process and your return options.3. Why might I not receive a Vehicle ConditionSummary and a Lease-end Statementat the time of return?If a third-party pre-inspection was not performed onyour vehicle prior to return or if the condition of yourvehicle has changed since the vehicle pre-inspectionwas conducted, a Vehicle Condition Summary and aLease-end Statement may not be available and a finalthird-party inspection may be needed to determine yourfinal kilometrage and any excess wear and tear.6. When will I get the refund of my security deposit?Once Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has beennotified of the vehicle return by the dealership, youraccount will be settled. If there are no excess wear andtear charges, outstanding payments, excess kilometrageor additional fees assessed to the account, your securitydeposit will be refunded within 14 days.
