28th Sunday in Ordinary TimeR EADING C ATHOLIC C OMMUNITYDear Parishioners,With September behind us the activity of our parishes is in full swing andit's great to see all the smiling faces of our young people returning toReligious Education. There are wonderful things happening in theReading Catholic Community and there is more to come. With thebeginning of the Collaborative we enter a three year period of prayer, study and discernment as we work with the Archdiocesan Disciples of Mission Team in writing anevangelization plan for the future. In the last few weeks I have attended a number of training sessions, alongwith some parishioners, learning about this process. Most of you are familiar with the Matthew Kelly books from Dynamic Catholic that our parishes have beengiving out the last few years! This year our Collaborative is one of 40 parishes across the country that has beenchosen to participate in the Dynamic Parish Program: a program developed by Dynamic Catholic to helpparishes become all that God wants them to be. We have a team made up of members from both parishesthat is going to help us in this journey; it will be an exciting experience for us all! During the next few monthswe will be invited to start this journey and to dream about what our parishes could be. I hope everyone willenthusiastically participate in the Dynamic Parish program. On a personal note many of you have asked me, with concern, about my limping about. With the help of Godand a skilled surgeon’s hands I will be as good as new by Monday afternoon. If I get all my pre-op work done Iwill have a partial hip replacement on Monday morning at NE Baptist Hospital. Even though my surgeon hasan Army background he convinced me that it was time to fix it. Please keep me in your prayers for a successfuloperation and a speedy recovery. You are always in my prayers. God bless.Fr. Steve RockS AINT A GNES P ARISHSt. Agnes Parish's Book of Remembrance: Dedicated to the Holy SoulsThis weekend the Book of Remembrance has been placed at the front of the church, in preparation for themonth of November, the month dedicated to the faithful departed. This time-honored tradition has been partof St. Agnes since 1986.Every October, all are welcome to enter into the Book of Remembrance the names of loved ones who havepassed away during the current year. Throughout the month of November, we pray for all those in this year'sBook of Remembrance, as well as all previous years' Books. As we remember all those special people who have been a part of our lives, let us also reflect upon the wordsof St. Teresa of Calcutta:"November begins with two beautiful days, the Feasts of All Saints and All Souls. Holy Mother Churchremembers all of her children, to whom she has given the life of Jesus through Baptism We all know thatduring this whole month we give them extra love and care, by praying to them and for them." October 13, 2019S AINT A GNES P ARISHThis Weekend is Our Commitment WeekendThis weekend marks the culmination of Saint Agnes’ Inspiring Hope campaign! Over the past severalmonths, Father Rock and a small team of parish volunteers have invited the support of Saint Agnesparishioners through individual visits, receptions, and through the mail. Today is an opportunity for allmembers of the parish to make a decision about how they can support the parish and this effort. Our Campaign ProgressTo date, our parish has raised 850,575 toward our 900,000 goal from our parishioners! With the supportof the entire parish, we could potentially exceed our target. We have an opportunity to build up ourresources to provide a stronger parish for years to come.We are blessed with such a strong community of which we can all be proud. Thank you to all those who havealready participated in this effort, and thank you all for listening and learning about how we will bestrengthened by this campaign. How Saint Agnes Needs Your HelpIt is our hope that every parishioner will be able to make a decision today to support this effort which willhave a profound impact on our church for years to come. The support of every parish household isappreciated and will help propel us well beyond our 900,000 goal.We ask that each family consider making a pledge that would be over and above your regular weeklyoffertory. Parishioners can make their pledges over a five-year period and in a variety of ways.Regular pledge reminders will be sent out based on how often you would like to make your pledge –monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. Parishioners can fulfill their pledges by check, credit card, electronic fundstransfer, or through planned gifts like life insurance, IRA distributions, and through your estate. This campaign has already been such a success and blessing for our parish, we want everyone to be a part ofour achievement! While our hope is to receive everyone’s campaign decision at Mass this weekend, there will be a brief follow-up exercise next week for those who need more time or are away this holiday weekend. If you have anyquestions about the campaign or making a pledge, please contact the parish office at (781) 944-0490.Inspiring Hope CampaignSaint Agnes Parish Goal: 900,000Raised to Date: 850,575Average/Median Five Year Pledge: 10,400 - Average 5,000 - MedianPercent of Goal: 95%Main Campaign Priorities: Fully Fund Upper Church Ceiling Repairs Replenish parish Financial Resources Endow Parish evangelization efforts across theArchdiocese Endow Social Justice Work through CatholicCharitiesPage 6
