However, students must make sure that they are acquainted withthe necessary requirements to meet this goal because this task is ultimately theirresponsibility. Any required deficiencies must be completed prior to graduation. Pleasenote that graduation requirements are minimum requirements. Most students will haveearned more than the minimum requirements at the close of their senior year.Transfer StudentsTransfer students’ credits will be evaluated on an individual basis as to how their formercurriculum corresponds to Lexington’s curriculum and requirements.6 Page

Incomplete PolicyAn Incomplete (I) may be given under certain situations in lieu of a grade when astudent does not complete the requirements of the course. Any work not made up will be recorded as failing. Exceptions to this policy mustbe approved by the principal. Philosophy of EducationThe basic function of education is the development of the inherent abilities of eachstudent. Therefore, our curriculum must meet the needs and desires of every student ona mental, cultural, emotional, social, and physical level. We accept the responsibility fordeveloping fundamental skills, creating an atmosphere for constructive, creative, andreflective thinking. We believe that our school should accept the individual as he/she is and guide him/hertoward maximum growth. We realize that development of the intellect is not sufficient, but that the total personality must be developed. Our school program should create ineach individual an appreciation of the various areas of our culture which includes thehumanities, arts, and sciences. We believe teaching demands that experiences beprovided for students in an effective manner to create a desire for learning and preparethem for the changes that occur daily. From this each student should be able torecognize and appreciate the multicultural and multiracial heritage of our society.14 Page
