The initial operation began with the monitoring ofover 100 cell phones in the area that police believed El Compayito was operating. Once payphones andother cell phones with normal usage patterns were ruled out, police began focusing on atypical usage thatwas characterized by phones being turned on only for brief lapses in the early hours of the morning.Following a series of brief calls, these cell phones would be turned off for days, weeks, or months at atime. For this reason, tracking down the atypical usage was difficult, as the calls were always cut beforethey could actually be traced. However, police caught a lucky break on the morning of 11 August 2011when a signal that lasted long enough to be traced was picked up. This same call led authorities directlyto the residence of El Compayito.Spanish Source: http://www.provincia.com.mx/13-08-2011/253976/Top of the DocumentNAYARITAuthorities Recover Nine Murder Victims Along the Tepic-Aguamila Highway in Nayarit – 20August 2011On 20 August 2011 at 0500 hours, State Policeresponded to reports regarding nine murder victims thathad been left along the Tepic-Aguamila Highway nearthe Mora village in [21.5233-104.8116], Nayarit.According to police reports, these victims were originallykidnapped, beaten, and then driven to the location inwhich they were found and shot to death.
