When I hear it, I see an 18 year old girl justgraduated from high school going into a whole new world that seemed to be against the norm for afemale. When I started at Triangle Tech, I knew nothing about electricity other than, if you touch it, itwill hurt you. Luckily for me, the instructors at Triangle Tech did their absolute best to explain everysingle element of the subject. This made it very easy to learn, even the hardest concepts of electricity.I absorbed every bit of information they provided me with- from residential to PLC’s, data and communications, to transformers. The instructors taught all the biggest and smallest details that I needed to knowin order to understand what I was learning. Then, by the time fourth term was coming to an end, I hadsuccessfully completed each term will all A’s, earning myself a QPA of 4.0. Going into the real world wasscary; they always say that it's a totally different ball game going from college to a job. I ended up gettinga position at a local heat treating facility about ten minutes from my house, thanks to Triangle Techsending out my resume and transcript. I was hired on as a Maintenance Technician.I didn’t even have to put in an application to get this position, and quite frankly, that made me feel veryproud knowing they wanted me to work for them. A short week after my interview there, they told me thejob was mine. Of course they provided me with good insurance, paid vacation, and personal time. Uponstarting there, I learned to MIG weld, work on batch furnaces, overhead cranes, operate the scissor liftand forklift, run gas lines and of course, I do the electrical work that I learned at Triangle Tech. The facility was so impressed with my work that after only four months of working there, they sent me to secondshift to be the Maintenance Supervisor, where I am in charge of keeping the place running.
