The founding and development of PSUT PSUT was established in 1991 under thename of Princess Sumaya University Collegeof Technology. At that time, it awarded aBachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Itis the academic arm of the Royal ScientificSociety that founded the University. In 1992, the University was officially openedby His Majesty the late King Hussein binTalal. In 1994, the foundation stone was laid forthe King Abdullah II School of Engineering,which granted at that time a Bachelor’sdegree in Electronic Engineering. In 1995, the University celebrated thegraduation of its first batch of students,which numbered 72. In 2002, the new title of Princess SumayaUniversity for Technology was adopted bythe University. Also, a new specialization ofComputer Engineering was launched.program was launched, followed by theMaster’s in Environmental Technology andManagement in 2008. The Master’s programin International Business Administration wasalso added in 2008, run in cooperation withthe University of Lancaster in the UK. In 2011, three new undergraduate programswere created: Electrical Power and EnergyEngineering, Software Engineering, andAccounting. In 2011, two new Master’s degree programswere created: Electrical Engineering, andInformation Systems Security and DigitalCriminology. In 2012, two new programs were introduced:Master of Entrepreneurship, and Bachelor ofe-Marketing and Social Media. In November 2013, His Majesty King AbdullahII Bin Al-Hussein opened the King Abdullah IISchool of Engineering. The University expanded in 2005 withthe launch of new specializations inCommunications Engineering, ManagementInformation Systems, and ComputerGraphics and Animation, which is a uniquemajor in Jordan. In 2014, two new programs were created:Master’s in Enterprise Systems Engineering,run in collaboration with the GermanJordanian University, and a Bachelor’s degreein Networks and Information SecurityEngineering. In 2007, the Ministry of Higher Education andScientific Research approved the University’srules and regulations, and it became a modelfor private universities in Jordan. In 2015, a PhD program in Computer Sciencewas launched. In 2007, the Master’s of Computer Science6 In 2017, the MSc program in Data Sciencewas created, making PSUT the first Jordanianuniversity to offer a major in this field. PSUT In 2018, three new programs were launched:the Bachelor’s in Data Science and ArtificialIntelligence, the Master’s in BusinessAnalysis, and the Master’s in Smart Systemsand Computer Engineering. As for 2020, a Bachelor’s degree programwas developed in Cyber Security at the KingHussein School for Computing Sciences. In 2021, two Master’s programs werelaunched, one in e-Marketing and SocialMedia at King Talal School of BusinessTechnology, and the second in HealthInformation Technology at King HusseinSchool of Computing Sciences, in addition toa bachelor's program in the Internet of Thingsat King Abdullah II School of Engineering. In 2022, the Master's program in Supply ChainManagement and Logistics Technology, and theFinancial Technology and Analytical Accountingprogram were introduced.Student Guide 7

2021Our students’ achievements in local,regional and international competitions PSUT won 2nd and 5th places in the StudentRobot Competition, which was organized bythe Jordanian Engineers Association and theIEEE. PSUT won 1st, 4th, and 9th places in theJordanian Collegiate Programming Contest(JCPC), which was held at the University ofApplied Sciences. PSUT won 2nd and 3rd places in the MachineLearning for Science (ML4SCI) Hackathon,organized by Brown and Alabama universities. PSUT won first place in the 25th session ofthe African Arab Programming Championship,ACPC 2021, which was held in the Egyptiancity of Luxor.East and Pakistan in the Huawei ICTCompetition Middle East. The University won second place in theCrown Prince Award for Best GovernmentService Application. The University ranked first in the Arab worldand seventh globally in the IEEE InternationalCompetition. A team from the University won third place inthe global SITA Hackathon 2021 competition. PSUT won first and fourth places in theCapture the Flag (CTF) 2021 (Ethical Hacking)competition. The University won first place in the Middle20202022 PSUT won 1st place as top university in theworld in the Women in Data Science (WiDS)Datathon. PSUT won 2nd place in the CharteredFinancial Analyst (CFA) competition andqualified for the regional qualifiers in Dubai. PSUT ranked first in the Dr. Yaqoub NasirEl-Din Award for Free Reading and CreativeWriting, with the participation of all publicand private universities. PSUT won 1st place in the 17th InternationalMicroelectronics Olympiad and progressed toworld qualifiers. PSUT won 3rd place in the 11th exhibition ofwork done by IT students (ITSAF 2022), whichis organized by the International Associationof Computer Science and InformationTechnology, emanating from the Associationof Arab Universities.8 PSUT won 1st place among Jordanianuniversities in Umniah’s ‘The 8Log Blog’writing competition for the third consecutiveyear. Took 1st place globally at the IEEEXtremeProgramming Competition, which wascontested by 4,555 teams from all over theworld, and 1st place on Arabs for the past 6years. 2nd and 3rd places in the Crown Prince Awardfor Best Government Service Application. 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 10th places in the FirstCompetitive Programming Competitionorganized by JUST and marking the Battle ofKarameh. 1st place in the first Asian Arabic LanguageDebating Championship, held in Kuala Lumpur.with teams participating from Tunis, Morocco,Algeria, and Jordan. A joint team comprised of members fromPSUT and several other internationaluniversities, won 1st place in the 9thInternational Hackathon Competition, whichwas held remotely in Abu Dhabi, organizedby New York University and with the supportof MIT Hacking Medicine. The aim of thecompetition is to encourage innovation incomputer sciences and support emergingtechnology companies. participated in the competition. The University won the 4th, 6th, 22nd, 61st, and91st place on the global level, and the 1st, 2nd,and 4th in the Arab world at the “IEEEXtremeGlobal Programming Competition” which sawthe participation of 4,103 teams from aroundthe world.2018 PSUT won 2nd place in the Portal: FireFightingCompetition. 1st place in the 13th InternationalMicroelectronics Competition, with theparticipation of 48 contestants from fiveJordanian universities.2019 1st and 2nd place in the 14th InternationalMicroelectronics Competition. 77 contestantsfrom 5 Jordanian universities participated,and PSUT students represented Jordan in thefinals held in Armenia. PSUT won 3rd place in the Huawei ICT SkillsCompetition. 1st and 2nd places in the Arab and Africanregional level in the ACM - ACPC, which washeld in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. PSUT won 1st place in the CFA 2019Competition against 5 participating Jordanianuniversities, thus qualifying to representJordan in Zurich, Switzerland in the RegionalEMEA Research Challenge against teamsfrom Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.10 PSUT’s Debating Club was crowned WorldChampions at the Fifth International ArabicLanguage Debating Tournament which washeld in Qatar with the participation of 107teams representing 100 universities from 51Arab and foreign countries. 2nd place in the Dell EMC’s “Envision theFuture” Competition. 253 projects weresubmitted from 23 countries in the MiddleEast, North Africa and Turkey. PSUT won 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 8th positionsin the ACPC Amman Competition against afield of 150 students from several Jordanianpublic and private universities. 1st and 3rd places in the Portal: FireFightingCompetition. 20 teams from six universities PSUT PSUT won 2nd and 3rd places in Jordan inthe Huawei ICT Skills Competition. The Finals involved21,000 students from 437 universities in theMiddle East and Pakistan. PSUT won 1st place in the CFA 2018Competition that was organized by theResearch Challenge Institute CFA. 7Jordanian universities participated and thePSUT team qualified to represent Jordanin Dublin, Ireland in the Regional EMEAResearch Challenge against teams fromEurope, Africa, and the Middle East. PSUT won 1st place in the “Code RedCompetition” the biggest security codeStudent Guide PSUT won 1st place at the first Asian ArabicLanguage Debating Championship. PSUT won 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th places in theMetaCTF Cyber Security Capture the FlagCompetition.hacking competition for Jordanianuniversities. 19 teams from various Jordanianuniversities participated in this competition. PSUT won 1st place and the title ofChampions of the Middle East and AfricaRegion in the ACM-ICPC 2018, which washeld in China. This is the largest globalcompetition and saw the participation of49,500 students and five thousand coaches,representing more than 3,000 universitiesfrom all over the world. Three PSUT teams won the top three placesat the ACM - JCPC 2018 Competition, whichsaw the participation of 91 teams fromJordanian public and private universities. 4th, 8th and 16th place in the world and firstin the Arab world for the fourth consecutiveyear at the IEEEXtreme InternationalProgramming Competition. PSUT won a gold medal and 1st and 2nd placesat the level of Jordanian universities at theACM – ACPC 2018, also taking 2nd place atthe Arab level. More than 130 teams fromdifferent universities in the Arab worldparticipated in this competition. 11

2017 PSUT won the first three places in theHakatari Codathon coding competition. PSUT ranked 1 among Jordanian universitiesand 7th in the world in the Fourth ArabicLanguage University Debating Tournament,2017.st First place in the Huawei ICT SkillsCompetition, which was held at theheadquarters of Huawei in Jordan. TheUniversity also took five out of the top sevenplaces in the competition and qualified forthe finals in China. Our IT security team qualified for the finalstage in the "CSAW 17 Competition" organizedby New York University. 1,444 teams from allover the world participated in this edition ofthe largest ‘Capture the Flag’ competition inthe world where the PSUT team was ranked:- 1st in the Middle East- 9th in the Middle East and North Africa- 41st worldwidePSUT won 3rd place globally in the 2017International Huawei ICT Skills Competition,which was held in China. The Universitywas awarded a Distinguished Academiccertificate, in addition to the Shield ofExcellence and the Outstanding CoachAward.2016 PSUT won 8th place in the world and 1st inthe Arab world at the 2016 IEEEXtremeCompetition. Two more teams won 53rd and57th place. 2,050 teams from more than 100countries participated in the event. 1st place in the ACM competition. PSUT won three prizes (including 1 place) inthe 9th and 10th National Technology Parades. 1st and 2nd places in the 2016 WorldHackathon Series. Five teams from PSUT won the ACM NationalProgramming Contest, thus qualifying forthe regional round of the competition heldin Sharm el-Sheikh. The University won 1st,3rd, 6th, 7th and 9th places against a field of89 teams from Jordanian public and privateuniversities. PSUT took the tournament cup in the fourthseason of the ACM - Amman CollegiateProgramming Contest. Against teams fromnumerous Jordanian government and privateuniversities, PSUT won eight of the topst PSUT won 1st place in the Kingdom and 4thplace in the Arab world at the ACM - ACPCCompetition, which was held in Egypt withthe participation of 120 teams from 60universities from 11 Arab countries. The teamqualified for the international finals that wereheld in China.2015 1st place in the “Best Innovative Idea” categoryof the “CodingWiz 2015” competition whichtook place at the Zain Innovation Campus(ZINC). The winning project aims to eliminatethe need to wear glasses by using smartphones to help with vision. 1 place in the Arab world and 16 at theworld level among more than 2,500 teams inthe International IEEEXtreme ProgrammingContest.stth 1st place in the Queen Rania NationalEntrepreneurship Competition: the SeventhAnnual Competition, Jordanian Universitiesand Colleges Category. “Maker Hackathon” (ZINC, 26 - 28/2/2015,sponsored by Zoomaal): 1st place againstteams from the majority of Jordanianuniversities.12 PSUTStudent Guide places: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th. Four PSUT teams won at the ACM NationalProgramming Contest, and three of themqualified for the regional Arab Competition.The University won 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th placeswith the participation of 81 teams from 20Jordanian public and private universities. PSUT won 1st place at the level of Jordanianuniversities in the ACM - Arab CollegiateProgramming Competition that was heldin Sharm Al-Sheikh, Egypt. More than 100teams participated from across the Arabworld. 1st and 2nd place, and the Strongest Teamaward, and the Fastest Team award in theACM - Amman Programming Competition,with the participation of Jordanian public andprivate universities. PSUT won the Championship Cup – 1stplace, the Fastest Team award, and theStrongest Team in the ACM - Fifth NationalProgramming Competition. The teamqualified for the Regional Finals, with theparticipation of 273 students forming 91teams from 20 Jordanian universities. PSUT won a silver medal in the ACM – ArabCollegiate Programming Contest (ACPC),among 88 teams from all Arab countries.The University took 4th place and qualified forthe 2016 World Finals , as well as taking theaward for Fastest Team in the tournament bysolving the first question within 5 minutes. 13

20142011 1st and 2nd place in the Kingdom in the IEEEXtreme 2014 International Programming Contest,with the participation of 48 Jordanian teams and about 150 students from all over Jordan. Theuniversity team was ranked 25th globally against a field of more than 2,200 teams and about7,000 students from all over the world. PSUT ranked 1st in the Arab world and 3rd globally at the Imagine Cup 2011, which is organized bythe Microsoft Corporation, making Jordan the first Arab country to achieve this feat. The city of AmmanAmman is the capital and largest city of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The city lies in the centerof the country at latitude 31 north and longitude 35 east in an area with numerous mountains. Thecity originally developed in the valleys between the mountains. When these valleys became tooconstricting, the city moved up their slopes and continued to expand across the peaks until now thecity is sprawled out over 20 mountains.3. History of AmmanAmman is one of the oldest cities, built on the ruins of an ancient city known as Rabbath Ammon.The name was changed to Philadelphia, then Amman, derived from Rabbath Ammon. PSUT’s focus is on internationalprograms and joint programsIn this field, the University has concludedagreements with numerous internationaland local universities. These includethe GMBA program in cooperation withLancaster University, the MSc program in 19

Management Information in cooperationwith Hasselt University, the Master’sprogram in Enterprise Networks Engineeringin partnership with the German-JordanianUniversity, and the Master’s of EngineeringManagement program with the Universityof Arizona, USA. Joint programs have beendeveloped with the universities of Oakland– Michigan and Indiana according to the(2 2) or (3 2) system. Students earn aBachelor’s degree and receive a certificatefrom both parties or a Bachelor’s degreefrom PSUT and a Master’s degree from theAmerican party.5. PSUT international accreditationPSUT holds ABET accreditation for sixprograms: Computer Science and allof the programs taught by the Schoolof Engineering. It is the first Jordanianuniversity to obtain this accreditationfor these disciplines, in addition tothe Software Engineering programbeing awarded the European EUR-ACEaccreditation.6. PSUT has obtained AACSBinternational accreditationFor all disciplines taught by the King TalalSchool of Business Technology at bothundergraduate and Master’s levels. It is oneof only 2% of business schools in the worldoutside the USA, and the first in Jordan.7. The University is distinguished inobtaining EU support for its projectsTo date, PSUT has received support for 40projects and is the grant holder for five ofthese projects.8. Bin Talal AwardIn 2002, PSUT received the King Hussein BinTalal Award for Excellence in Higher Education.20 9. AchievementsNumerous PSUT students have made greatachievements, and winning importantlocal and international awards, includingthe Imagine Cup award from Microsoft,ACM programming competitions, andthe IEEEXtreme competition, has beenreflected in the students’ high employmentfigures, with 89% of all graduatessuccessfully finding employment. PSUTalso ranked first in the program formeasuring the employability of Jordanianuniversity graduates conducted by theInternational Finance Corporation (IFC)of the World Bank Group. With the aimof encouraging entrepreneurship andinnovation through the adoption andnurturing of entrepreneurial and creativeideas among Jordanian youth, in 2004,PSUT established a center called theQueen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship,and in 2017 it established the Office forthe Care of Gifted Students.10. University Proficiency ExamPSUT students have obtained remarkableresults in the University Proficiency Exam.The University won 1st place against allother Jordanian universities for the fifthconsecutive year at the general level, anddistinguished itself by ranking 1st among thecountry’s universities in its taught programsduring the academic year 2018/2019.11. HEAC’s ListIn 2017/2018, PSUT ranked 2nd inthe HEAC’s list of classifications for theprivate and public universities of Jordan.The classification system, set by theHEAC to measure quality assurance inJordan’s higher education institutions,was applied for the first time. It is based PSUTon five criteria, reflecting each university’sability to participate and excel in fivemain dimensions: Education and learning,scientific research, the internationaldimension, quality of graduates, andacademic accreditation.an intelligent humanoid robot designedto live with humans, who can interactwith Pepper in various ways, such assound and touch. Pepper was brought tothe University thanks to the dedicatedefforts of HRH Princess Sumaya bint ElHassan. Pepper’s coming to the Universitywas revealed at the Eighth World ScienceForum in 2017 where it was alsoannounced that this advanced technologywould be incorporated into PSUT’seducational system.12. International QS rankingAccording to the QS World UniversityRankings 2020, PSUT ranked first inJordan and fifteenth in the Arab regionin terms of the ratio of the number ofpublished research papers to the numberof faculty members. Furthermore, PSUTranks among the top 500 internationaluniversities for the number of internationalstudents, and among the top 275universities for the number of foreignfaculty. It was also placed in the 8001000 category globally in the QS 2021classification.14. Scientific Research Ethics UnitPSUT is the first Jordanian university toestablish a “Scientific Research Ethics Unit”.13.
