“A great thing about ourprogram is the breadthof our research. You canexplore many differentareas of chemistry.”– Dean Tantilllo, professorCutting-Edge ResearchOur department engages in a rich spectrum of groundbreaking research within chemistry and across disciplines. Our faculty are recognized as AAAS, ACS, and RSCFellows and are recipients of prestigious awards bothwithin and outside the university. The department staysengaged with the broader scientific community, with facultyserving on journal editorial and advisory boards and asofficers in societies such as ACS. Innovations within thedepartment spawn entrepreneurial endeavors includingstartup companies and industry partnerships. Resources within ReachThe department is home toadvanced facilities including NMR,X-ray crystallography, and imaging. We are major users of a sharedhigh-performance computing clusteron campus. Our faculty directunique centers such as the CampusMass Spectrometry facility, the WestCoast Metabolomics Center andthe CalEPR center. We are centrallylocated on campus, providing easy access to numerous additional resources atUC Davis. The city is geographically situated with world-class technologies withinreach, including the Advanced Light Source at Lawrence Berkeley National Laband the UC Davis Medical School in Sacramento.State-of-the-art CenterOur department is home to the CalEPR center (left), founded by Prof. David Britt(right). The center has six continuous-wave and pulse EPR instruments rangingin frequency from 9 to 130 GHz. CalEPR is the largest center of its kind on theWest coast.
