Progress Together.Fiscal Year 2021 Environmental, Social and Governance Report

Yes, we make fries. But first and foremost,we make progress.Progress for people, food, and the planet. This isn’t new. We’ve had a progress mindset since the 1950s, when we first invented abetter way to cut potatoes. And in every challenge, we see possibilitiesto improve. Our inventive spirit has given us a steady stream of industryfirsts and innovative ideas across every strand of our business—ourprocesses, the way we make food, and how we take care of our people. Our approach to ESG is no different. We never stand still. Everything we do is geared toward sustainableprogress, and together we are growing to make a meaningful difference. For our people, so that everyone can reach their highest potential. For our food, to be loved and trusted. And for nature, to ensure we take care of its resources so it thrives, andwe all can too.Progress. It’s not just what we aim for. It’s what we do.

Lamb WestonPEOPLEFY2021 Environmental, Social and Governance ReportFOODPLANETAPPENDIXA MESSAGEFrom Our President and ChiefExecutive OfficerMaking progress in our business and against ourESG goals are parallel journeys for us. We know thatachieving our vision to be the No. 1 global potatocompany means also understanding our impact on theworld around us. And we have a great sense of pridein the cross-functional, long-term efforts our team hasmade to operate sustainably. However, we know thatthe efforts we’ve made to date aren’t enough to ensurewe achieve the goals we’ve set for our future. As a company, we’ve had a progress-driven mindsetsince 1950. Over the last 70 years, we’ve never stoodstill—always looking for ways to improve and grow, building this business that began as a single peaprocessing plant into a global food supplier. Lookingahead, ensuring longevity for our team members and ourshareholders means we’ll need to grow sustainably. Many of our core principles provide a strong foundation forthis work, such as operating with integrity and deliveringsafe and trusted food, giving our people opportunities thatallow them to reach their highest potential, and elevatingnew ideas that push us to think differently. One of the ideas I’m most proud of is the new batterswe developed using an Upcycle Certified starch thatis a byproduct of pea processing. We are able to helpeliminate food waste by using this starch as a value-addedingredient. And in our Agriculture department, we’veexpanded our domestic approach to include our globalgrowing regions, creating our Ag One strategy that willdrive results toward our ambitious goals in this area. You’ll also see progress in thetransparency and evolution ofour reporting: We’ve updated ourmateriality assessmentto best reflect our currentbusiness environment. Whilemany topics maintained their materiality, someareas shifted, and so has our prioritization. We’ve included the TCFD Reporting framework this year,to add transparency and comparability to our program. We’ve included our full Equal EmploymentOpportunity (EEO) report data to buildtransparency into our human capital reporting. Each section features a progress report card, sharing our performance against key performanceindicators that help us understand what weneed to do to meet our 2030 goals.Throughout this report, we’ve shared stories that demonstratethe steps we’re taking across our business to make progresstogether. We’re testing and trying new things, supporting eachother in growth opportunities, and focusing on a long-termfuture for Lamb Weston. I hope this fiscal year 2021 reportprovides you with the same pride and confidence I have inthis company and our bright future.Tom WernerPresident and CEOOver the last70 years, we’ve neverstood still—alwayslooking for ways toimprove and grow, building this businessthat began as a singlepea processing plantinto a global foodsupplier. Our Progress.PEOPLEMaximizing the individual potential of all 7,800 Lamb Weston team members and sharing valuewith our communities.

Making Progress, TogetherInvolving Everyonein SafetyImproving safety performance requires more than removinghazards. It’s also about engaging every person in creating a safework environment. When our Safety team conducted a survey tounderstand employees’ levels of safety engagement, they foundsomething surprising. Although our Delhi, Louisiana, plant wasmeeting corporate Total Incident Rate (TIR) goals, team membersat the plant reported low levels of engagement, and felt they weren’tbeing adequately recognized for safe behavior. The Safety team jumped into action by introducing readily accessibleincident reporting forms throughout the plant, which made it easierfor hazards to be corrected and employees to be recognized for theirefforts. This simplified process empowered more employees to getinvolved in eliminating hazards and is proving that safety gets betterwhen we commit as a team.By providing our employees with thenecessary skills to excel, we empower them tomake the daily decisions that drive us on ourJourney to Zero.”Shane Sims Production Manager

In additionto improving work-life balance, the practice hasalso helped us reduce overtime.Task Force Joins Togetherto Get the Most Out ofOur PotatoesWhen extreme heat in the PacificNorthwest impacted our potato crop,a cross-functional team from our Ag,Commercial, Operations, Logistics,Customer Service, and Quality teamscame together to understand how toget the most out of the potato crop wehad. The heat meant smaller potatoesthat were more prone to defects, and a smaller yield overall. To makesure we were using as much of thesepotatoes as possible and to meet ourcustomer commitments, this teamcame together to review our finishedproduct specifications. The resultwas high-quality fries, with a modifiedspecification set that allowed theoperations team to be more efficientand use more of the available potato.16
