INTRODUCTIONThe University of Arizona’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health (MEZCOPH) wasestablished in January 2000 and accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health in2003. Under its administrative roof are academic programs that lead to seven degrees - theBachelor of Science (BS), with a major in public health; the Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a major inWellness and Health Promotion Practice, the Master of Public Health (MPH), withconcentration areas in Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology,Family and Child Health, Health Behavior Health Promotion, Health Services Administration,One Health, Public Health Policy and Management, and Public Health Practice; the Master ofScience (MS) degrees in Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, and Epidemiology; theMaster of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree in Health Behavior Health Promotion, Doctorof Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences, Epidemiology, andHealth Behavior Health Promotion; and a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree withconcentration areas in Maternal and Child Health and Public Health Policy and Management.The Bachelor of Science and the Master of Public Health degree programs are offered viacampus based, as well as online, formats. Comprehensive information about all of the College’sacademic programs can be found in the College of Public Health Curriculum Guide.Our graduates have established careers locally, nationally, and internationally. Of note, theyinclude health department directors, CDC program managers, industrial hygienists, healthpromotion and wellness specialists, public health faculty, pharmaceutical industrybiostatisticians, directors of community outreach programs, epidemiologists, clinical researchcoordinators, chief executive officers of health centers and community programs, as well as the17th Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Richard Carmona, to name just a very few.
