ContactsConferences teamPlease read this handbook prior to the conference as it includes all the information you will need while on-site. Ifyou have any questions or require further information, please contact Ana Santos or the IOP conferences team, whowill make every effort to rectify the issues as soon as possible. The conferences team will be on-site for the duration of the meeting (see registration times) to answer any questionsand to support the overall running of the event.Ana SantosTel: 44 (0)20 7470 4984Email: ana.santos@iop.orgConferences teamEmail: conferences@iop.orgOrganising committee – Applied Mechanics Group Dr Cristinel Mares, Brunel University, UK (Conference Chair)Dr Giles Aldrich-Smith, AWE, UKDr Ifigeneia Antoniadou, University of Sheffield, UKProfessor Carol Featherstone, University of Cardiff, UKDr Jack Hale, University of Newcastle, UKProfessor Alison McMillan, Wrexham Glyndrwr University, UKDr. Sophoclis Patsias, Rolls-Royce, UKDr Anish Roy, Loughborough University, UKProfessor Christopher Smith, University of Exeter, UKDr John Bannister, Entropia Consulting, UKModern Practice in Stress and Vibration Analysis (MPSVA) 20182

Co-sponsorsExhibitorsThe exhibition will be held in the Garden room of the Gillespie Centre for the duration of the conference.Structural Dynamics Laboratory for Verification and ValidationThe Structural Dynamics Laboratory for Verification and Validation(LVV) is a major new acoustics and vibration testing facility fundedby the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council(EPSRC), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) andthe University of Sheffield. It is a world-leading research facility forthe testing of large engineering structures under realisticenvironmental and dynamic conditions, helping to validate thecomputer simulation models used in the engineering designprocess. The facility provides a unique research offering to bothacademia and industry. Capitalising upon the University's globallyrecognised expertise in this field, the LVV facilitates thedevelopment of V&V technology for models of components and fullstructures under representative operating conditions.Modern Practice in Stress and Vibration Analysis (MPSVA) 20183

GOMGOM develops optical measuring systems for applications like 3Ddigitising, 3D coordinate measurements and strain measurements.GOM systems are used for product development, quality assuranceand material or component testing. The GOM ATOS 3D scanner is developed for the reverse engineeringand dimensional control of components. Fast and accurate, GOMscans are now an established way of reducing product developmenttimes and ensuring highest quality components.GOM ARAMIS is a 3D Digital Image Correlation system, for full fieldand point based analysis. By capturing surface strain anddisplacement measurements over large areas comprehensiveresults can provide validation for finite element simulations.Social mediaFollow and join the conversation using #IOPmpsva2018 and @PhysicsNews.DisclaimerThe Institute of Physics and Clare College accept no responsibility for any accident, loss or damage to participantsor their property.VenueConferenceThe conference will be held at Clare College in the University of Cambridge. All keynote talks will be held in the Riley Auditorium, and parallel talks will be split the Riley Auditorium and theElton-Bowring room.
