To this end, I have served as a visiting faculty to universities in India,and in Grenada, giving seminars on various topics in hematology. I have supported requests ofexternal observers who wish to have a shadowing experience in the institutions I have workedat. I have co-edited a book on non-neoplastic hematopathology and infectious disorders, toserve a worldwide audience where infections and non-neoplastic disorders are more prevalentand may lead to diagnostic challenges.I also serve as a member of the advisory committee on religious diversity at the Beth IsraelDeaconess Medical Center, Boston MA. I serve as an advisor to the office of spiritual care andeducation and have helped plan and execute Hindu festival celebrations at the hospital.TEACHING AND MENTORINGTEACHING SUMMARYMy initial career in pathology has been at a major Harvard teaching hospital, and more recentlyat the University of California at San Francisco, also a major academic center. I am passionateabout medical education. I have highlighted below some of my teaching contributions.At the Institution:Hematopathology Fellows: Associate Program Director of the HematopathologyFellowship Training program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 2002-2017,accredited for 2 ACGME fellows per year. Have helped train nearly 30 hematopathologyfellows. I participate in interviews and selection, curriculum design, training, mentorship andevaluations. All of our hematopathology fellowship graduates who have taken the national14 of 36

Since 2017, I have been actively involved in interviewingpathology and laboratory medicine residents as well as hematopathology fellows.Pathology Residents: Curriculum design and teaching of hematopathology, laboratoryhematology & laboratory management. I lead the laboratory hematology course for pathologyresidents, and teach the coagulation disorders and hemoglobinopathy module. I was awardedthe ‘Golden test-tube award’ and the “Margot S. Kruskall award” for the best teacher in clinicalpathology by the out-going class of 2003 & 2010, respectively at BIDMC. I was presented the2017-18 faculty teaching award for the best teacher in the department of laboratory medicineat UCSF.Medical students: an instructor of the second year hematology microscopy tutorial, and thethird year primary clinical experience case conferences. I have served as one of 6 core facultymentors for the pathology elective for third year medical students.
