College of DuPage/Lewis University 3 1 Program in Criminal Social JusticeStep One:Complete a 3 1 Transfer Application at the Admissions Office at the College of DuPage.Step Two:Begin studies at the College of DuPage in the Associate of Arts curriculum.Step Three:As part of the AA, enroll in the 5 COD Criminal Justice courses required for the program (Intro toCriminal Justice, Criminology, Juvenile Delinquency, Intro to Corrections and Police Operations andProcedures).Step Four:One-to-two semesters before completion of the AA degree, submit an Admissions Application to LewisUniversity.Step Five:Once admitted to Lewis University, meet with Michelle Mega to register for Lewis University courses.Step Six:After Lewis course registration, register for the third-year (“upper-division”) courses at COD. There is atotal of 7 (21 credit hours) of upper division courses that are taken while enrolled in Lewis coursework.Step Seven:If applying for financial aid, submit a Registration Statement from the Cashier’s Office at COD toFinancial Aid Services at Lewis University.Important Points:The 3 1 program is built upon the student having 72 completed hours as part of the AA degree at COD prior to thestudent beginning their Lewis courses. The AA degree is 64-66 hours, so 6-8 additional hours must be taken beforeentry to Lewis.Third year (“upper division”) courses may not be taken prior to starting Lewis courses. If the student plans to complete the Lewis portion of their degree in 4 semesters, then three Lewis courses plus theadditional upper division courses must be taken each semester.Lewis does not run courses over the summer, but the additional upper division courses at COD may be taken as long asthe student has already started their Lewis coursework.Students must receive a “B” or higher in their COD upper division courses. If they fail to do so, the course must berepeated or replaced.Once a student begins Lewis coursework, financial aid cannot be processed by the College of DuPage. Lewis will assumethe processing of financial aid. Funds will be credited to the student’s Lewis account first; if there is financial aid leftover, a check will be cut and sent to the student.Since financial aid will be processed by Lewis, College of DuPage will no longer recognize students as part of thefinancial aid program at COD and students will no longer be placed on the deferred payment plan. When studentsregister for their upper division courses at COD, they will have to pay for these courses immediately or risk beingdropped from them. All College of DuPage courses must be completed the semester prior to the student’s last Lewis semester. Students maynot be enrolled in any COD courses while in their Lewis graduating semester.COD – Lewis University “3 1” Agreement Criminal/Social Justice
