Southern Adelaide Local Health NetworkSpirometry Learning ModuleEducational Resources for Health ProfessionalsOverviewOverviewSpirometry is recommended as an indispensable tool to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of chronicairways disease. Point–of–care (POC) spirometry testing, defined as spirometry performed outside of aspecialised Respiratory Function Laboratory, such as at the bedside of hospital patients or in primarycare clinics, has been shown to increase the correctness of COPD and asthma diagnoses and improvethe clinical management of patients in primary care.The ‘Spirometry Learning Module – Educational Resources for Health Professionals’ (SLM – ERHP) hasbeen designed and developed by the SLM Development Group and the Southern Adelaide Local HealthNetwork and is facilitated by Chandlers Hill Surgery. It’s designed to assist health professionalsrecognise the essential requirements for quality assured, point-of-care spirometry and reliably interprettest results and is compliant with national and international spirometry standards.Who is it for?Clinicians, nurses, allied health workers and other healthcare providers from tertiary, secondary andprimary care settings, across metropolitan, rural and remote environments who supervise and/orinterpret point-of-care spirometry tests.Outline:The web-based components are self-paced and include presentations, filmed segments and interactiveresources.
