Our historyEstablished in 1988 in Sheffield, Flexseal’s corebusiness is the design and manufacture of flexiblecouplings for the repair of sewer and drainage systems- over the years, this has become the standard methodof repair in the UK, and Flexseal now supply thelargest range of flexible couplings in the marketplace. In 1991 Flexseal increased capacity with the acquisitionof a 1022m2 factory to meet the increasing demandfor our rapidly growing product range. This was thenfollowed by further expansion into an 1858m2 factory.International growth soon became a priority and a newstate of the art production facility (2787m2) wascommissioned in Wombwell in Barnsley in 1998. Thismarked our tenth anniversary, a period in which thenumber of employees increased from two to over sixty. In 2002, Flexseal was acquired by the US ownedFernco Group, and a global group was created thatsupplied the most extensive range of flexiblecouplings throughout the world.Manufacturing technologies, injection mouldingcapabilities, process improvements and distributionand manufacturing facilities have evolved year-on-yearat Flexseal. Several new pipe connection technologiesand a nationwide support network of sales managershave helped Flexseal become synonymous with thehighest quality of product and service in the industry. This connection with the needs of the marketplace, and a need to evolve and develop, will continue inyears to come. We’ve come a long way.19881991 Customer service is at the centreof everything that Flexseal does. Our dedicated sales teams buildrelationships, share knowledge andexperience, and provide a servicewhich is second to none. This iswhy Flexseal continues to be theindustry leader.Lee PashleySales Director1998lee@flexseal.co.uk3

Internal Coupling150-400mm diameterFor the secure internal connection of two pipesof irregular or inaccessible external profileIntroductionIn the past there have been several low pressure pipe connections which would challenge anycoupling manufacturer. The main examples include:Connecting witha flat bottomedconcrete pipeWhen a pipe is shearedclose to a surface, with nostub or spigotWhen surface damageprevents a reliableexternal sealWhen part of the exteriorof the pipe is buried, orotherwise inaccessibleCreating a perfect sealwith a spiral reinforcedplastic pipeThese challenges have now been overcome with the launch of the Flexseal Icon Coupling, a unique couplingwhich securely seals against the internal surface of two pipes. A secure, permanent, watertight and airtightconnection is now guaranteed on pipes from DN150 to DN400 with an internal circular profile.Conceived by Dave Milnes, Technical Manager at Flexseal, the product is a true innovation for our industry, solving several problems encountered on site. With the same ease as any of our other flexible couplings, two pipes of irregular or inaccessible external profilecan now be securely connected.Scan here for ademo movie6

Standard Couplings50-620mm diameter09EN295-4EN681-1WIS-4-41-01See page 38 forfull standard detailsDesigned for sewerage, drainage and all nonand low pressure applications up to 2.5 barIntroductionBenefitsThe Standard Coupling range Type 2B - SC115 to SC620 isWIS 4-41-01 approved and suitable for private and publicsewers. W ithstands an internal pressure of up to2.5 barFlexseal provides the most extensive range of StandardCouplings available in the marketplace and has revolutionisedtraditional pipe repair methods over the years. Flexseal StandardCouplings are specifically designed to connect and repair pipesof different materials or sizes used in sewerage, drainage andother underground applications. When excavation work is required to repair a damaged pipe,Flexseal Standard Couplings will reduce the amount of timerequired and minor differences in pipe diameter can beaccommodated. The combination of a durable design andexcellent sealing properties when tightened to the correcttorque enable the Flexseal Standard Coupling to provide areliable seal on rough pipe surfaces e.g. concrete, as well as onsmooth surfaces e.g. PVC.Standard Couplings can be combined with Flexseal Bushes in orderto act as an adaptor between pipelines of differing outside diameters.Standard Couplings are made from EN681-1 EPDM rubber andhave Grade 1.4301 (304) stainless steel clamps and shearbands.Flexseal can also supply the product with nitrile sleeves for usewith effluent which may be contaminated with hydrocarbons.Couplings are also available with Grade 1.4401 (316) stainlesssteel for improved corrosion protection. These areinstalled at 20Nm and 25Nm. T he optimised conversion of torque to tension in the bandmaximises the contact pressure between the seal and the pipesurface. T he bolt’s anchor points are circular so their ability to rotateprovides perfect alignment as the clamp band is tightened. A ll clamp components are manufactured from Grade 1.4401 (316)stainless steel. T he bolt thread is lubricated, both reducing friction in the threadand preventing galling between the nut and the bolt.
