I never had a desire to practicelaw but in my role as CEOof a private practice, I workwith lawyers in a variety ofsettings. I wanted to havea better understanding ofEmployment Law, ContractLaw and Stark Law/ AntitrustLaw when dealing with staffand physician contracting,terminations, reprimands aswell as hiring and recruiting.I can confidently say aftercompleting the program thatI understand the legal side ofmedicine a whole lot more thanI did three years ago.I work for the Department of Child Services,servicing abused and neglected children. Wehave a significant element of legal work in thisfield. I was looking for a way to stand out ina crowd of credentialed social workers, and away to contribute to the discussion about howto improve child welfare.
