IMPORTANT ELECTION INFORMATIONThis packet contains important information about the annual election ofseven new members of the Charlestown Residents’ Council onWednesday, August 3, 2022 Photographs and 100-word bios of each of the candidates – Studythem and decide which seven (7) candidates will receive your vote.You may wish to mark them and bring them with you on ElectionDay, as it may help you complete your ballot. Election Day Schedule – showing location of polling places andvoting hours. You must vote at the polling place designated for thebuilding where you live, so become familiar with the place and thevoting hours. Absentee Ballot Information – If you will be unable to vote onElection Day, you may obtain an absentee ballot. The Instructionsfor Absentee Ballots on the last page contains all of the informationyou need.In addition to the information in this packet, there are several other waysto become acquainted with the candidates before Election Day. Photo Posters – Large posters containing photographs and bios ofthe candidates will be displayed near the dining and lounge areasthroughout Charlestown. The posters will help you identify thecandidates. Channel 972 (The program will also be viewable on MyErickson) Name Badges – Each candidate will be wearing a red RCCANDIDATE ribbon on their name badge during the campaign.Candidates are encouraged to visit various dining rooms and othercampus activities. Introduce yourself and get to know them.

·Candidates forResidents’ Council2022 ElectionPeg BuehlmanMarried to Mark for 55 years, we have 2 children and 5grandchildren. I worked for 2 defense contractors asFacility Security Officer and CEO for a not-for-profitoutdoor education facility. I served in several leadershiproles for an International Women’s Ministry for 30 yearsand volunteered at The Howard County Conservancy. Sincemoving to Charlestown in June of 2021, Jim Herman and Ihave organized Herb’s Heroes, a group of volunteers thatuse a fun activity cart when visiting Wilton Overlook, and Iam a Sales Resident Ambassador. I have also joined theLeague of Women Voters and Fireside Artists ofCharlestown.Carl (Joe) CarrickDenise, and Sasha and I moved to Charlestown in May of 2021,from Linthicum. My BS Degree in Accounting from theUniversity of Baltimore enhanced my Department of Defense36-year career with many challenging opportunities. I also usedthis formal education in my self-employed accounting businesswhich lasted 37 years. Prior community activities includedcoaching youth sports, serving lunches weekly in the schoolkitchen, treasurer on the Phoenix Society Board of Directors,developing spending affordability plans for Anne ArundelCounty, and strategic environmental positions for the Linthicumcommunity. At Charlestown, I have taken Sasha to visit theWilton Overlook residents, delivered furniture for TreasuresUnlimited, done apartment clean-outs, gathered with Ravensfans on game day, and volunteered for the Treasure Sale.

James V FitzsimmonsStarting as an instructor in language arts in the Baltimore CityPublic Schools, I later volunteered and served in the US AirForce as an administrative officer and as commander ofsecurity police units. My civilian career was with theMaryland Division of Vocational Rehabilitation as a vocationalrehabilitation specialist. I retired as both a certified publiccounselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor. I receivedan AA in Liberal Arts, an AB in Philosophy, an MEd inCounseling, and CASE certification in Psychology. In my homeparish prior to Charlestown, I served both as member andpresident of the Pastoral Council and sang in the choir.Current activities at Charlestown include Harmonizers, VFW,and the weekly sing-along in Memory Care.Paulette HammondI spent my professional career as a Clinical Virologist, workingin the private, public and non-profit sectors. Along the way, Ivolunteered for many small non-profit organizations, politicalgroups, and church-related organizations. I am currently thepresident of the Maryland Conservation Council(www.mdconservationcouncil.org), secretary/treasurer ofMaryland United for Peace and Justice (www.MUPJ.org),treasurer of my church (https://ctkepiscopal.org), Trustee ofthe Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), andmember of the state Commission on Environmental Justiceand Sustainable Communities (CEJSC), among others. I grewup in Catonsville and know the area well. I am familiar withthe political process and our elected officials.

Kathie HendryBorn and raised in Rhode Island, I moved to Maryland in 1978with my husband and young sons. I spent more than 30 years as atechnical editor/writer supporting NASA contracts and eventuallymoved into managing and writing proposals for governmentcontracts. We lived in Catonsville for 38 years, so my move toCharlestown was quite easy. In fact, my oldest son played socceron the field here while it was still part of the seminary. I am anavid reader and love to cook and bake. I have recently startedattending meetings of the Genealogy Club, DIB group, and severalELLIC classes.Bonnie Walsh LomonacoI have been a resident of Charlestown since January 2021. I am amaster’s level retired teacher of English to Speakers of OtherLanguages (TESOL), having taught for 40 years. Now, I enjoyvolunteering at the Treasure Chest, watercolor painting, andstudying/speaking Italian, Spanish and French. I also enjoytraveling as the COVID pandemic permits. More importantly, ifelected, I am interested in Charlestown’s maintaining the finequality of life that it offers its residents and improving conditionsaccording to circumstances and resident concerns. I also realizethat it is necessary to respond promptly to those concerns byoffering feedback.Loree LoughI moved to Charlestown three weeks before The Great CovidShutdown of 2020. Since then, I have been active withConservative Voices and was recently appointed the group'scontact person. My byline has appeared 2,500 times(Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore/ WashingtonBusiness Journals, Warfield's, McCall's, Redbook, etc.), and Ihave “ghosted” hundreds of articles for professionals innational/international technical/trade publications. Idesigned/taught writing-related courses for communitycolleges and tutored college/ high school students. A USAToday bestselling author, I have 138 award-winning novels inprint (18M in circulation), 7 book-to-movie options, haveappeared on local/national radio and TV programs, and am afrequent speaker for writers’ groups in the U.S., Canada, andEurope.

Nancy MeierI moved from my home of 25 years in Catonsville to Charlestownin August 2021. My career spent with the federal governmenthelped me to develop skills in software and programmanagement and to learn the need for pragmatism in decisionmaking. I also held many offices in the Faithful Circle QuiltersGuild. I was very active in the two homeowners’ associations inthe last 35 years. I look forward to learning more about howCharlestown supports its residents, listening to each other, andhelping make Charlestown the best place in which to live.Jean TribulskiNew to Charlestown in 2021, I have joined the Quilting and FiberArts group and the Benevolent Fund committee and am afrequent user of pool aerobics and gym. After receiving a Ph.D.in nursing, I have served as a Staff Nurse, Director of Nursing,and Clinical Editor for RN magazine. I also was on the faculty ofSeton Hall University and Rutgers University. I have experienceas an officer and board member on the NJ branch of theAmerican Heart Assoc., NJ State Nurses Assoc., Stone Harbor, NJRealty Owners Assoc., Women’s Civic Club, and Garden Club. Ihave a home in Florida and will spend some time there inOctober-November and February-March.

CHARLESTOWN RESIDENTS’ COUNCILNOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE 2022 INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS DRAFTAbsentee ballots for the Residents’ Council election, to be held onWednesday, August 3, 2022, are available to any resident who, for any reason, will be off-campusor will be limited to his/her apartment on election day,HOW TO OBTAIN AN ABSENTEE BALLOTRequests for Absentee Ballot must be submitted no later than fourteen (14) days prior to theelection (by July 20). If both residents of a single apartment require ballots, they may berequested on the same form. Only one apartment may be included on a single form.1. Complete the Request for Absentee Ballot below.2. Detach the request at the dotted line.3. Send the completed request, in an envelope, through in-house mail, to:Sherry Stewart – HR-5264.
