MISSIONARY BAPTIST GENERAL CONVENTION OF TEXASWOMEN’S MINISTRYPURPOSEThe Women’s Ministry will facilitate the integration of the women’s work of thisConvention and promote unity of purpose, for holistic growth and development of womenand girls, for the advancement of the Kingdom’s agenda.HISTORYIn 1896, a group of Baptist clergy and constituents had a vision of uniting churches to provideeducation, training, and leadership for Black Church memberships. The vision is still in theprocess of being fulfilled through the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas.In 2002, a group of Black Baptist Women were appointed to design, develop, andimplement programs to improve the women’s work of our State Convention. As anoutgrowth, the women’s ministry was born to give oversight, master planning, overallimplementation, accountability, structure, instruction, training, and direction for the holisticdevelopment of women and girls of this 128-year-old Convention. Thanks to the visionaryleadership of our President, Dr. G. V. Clark, we have made great strides and continue to offerservant leadership, training and education to women and girls across the State and nation. Wesay thanks to our pastors, moderators, women’s leaders and constituents for helping us to beand to become !The Women’s Ministry coupled with the Women and Girls’ Conference has become one ofthe primary components to helping us to carry out this mandate. Enthusiastically, we arelooking forward to our next Conference which marks our Seventeenth Annual Women andGirls’ Conference experience.
