Target MarketMukusu is initially targeting farmers and farmer institutions cooperative societiesin Northern and Eastern Uganda to hire agricultural equipment. While in otherregions of Uganda, Mukusu targets to sell agricultural equipment and commercialvehicles to SACCOS and progressive farmers.During the pilot period we worked with 235 small-holder farmers owning 600 acres. Thesepaid user fees to Mukusu but limited to first ploughing due to lack of crop finance.The evaluation process ofthe pilot project by theDutch Consultant Egbertrevealed that farmers whoadopted mechanisedploughing; Saved 61 hours peracre which wasconverted to farmexpansion andlivestock farming. Registered a 50%increase in yields. Potential to save 300man hours per acre ifall farm activities aremechanised.Social economic benefit We work with vulnerable farmers who are hardly targeted by our competitors. They onlybenefit from the government mechanization incentive (import tax exemption onagricultural machinery) when they hire tractors from Mukusu.
