Choose from more than 670camp sessions throughout Prince George’s County. SummerCamps are structured, full-day and half-day camps. Summer Day CampRegistration InformationEXTENDED CARE INFORMATION You must first be registered in the corresponding day camp beforeregistering for extended care. (Not all camps offer extended care.) Please complete extended care registration at least one week priorto camp start date. Summer Day Camp Swimming PoliciesSwimming Trips PolicyPlease read the following information carefully prior to selecting your child’s swimming designation during registration.To help ensure the safety of your child while he or she is participating in swimming pool trips this summer, you will beasked to designate him or her as a “Non-Swimmer” or “Swimmer” during registration. Use the following descriptionsas a guide for selecting your child’s appropriate swimming designation.Non-Swimmer: Non-swimmers have limited or no previous experience with swimming pools or other aquatic environments. Theyare unable to independently swim distances of 20 yards or more and/or cannot swim or play comfortably in waterthat is above their heads. If you designate your child as a “Non-Swimmer” he or she will be restricted to chest-deep water on swim trips.Swimmer: Swimmer must have previous experience in swimming pools or other aquatic environments. If you designate your child as a “Swimmer” he or she will be required to pass the Swim Test each time he or shevisits a pool. The Swim Test consists of the following skills, which are based on the American Red Cross WaterCompetency Guidelines:1. Enter the water, going completely under.2. Recover then float or tread for 1 minute with head remaining above the water.3. Turn completely around and swim on their front for a minimum of 25 yards without stopping or touchingthe bottom.4. Exit the water by pulling self-up and over the side of the pool. Upon successful completion of the required the Swim Test, children designated as “Swimmers” will have fullaccess to all water depths and slides/features in which they meet the proper height requirement. Designated“Swimmers” who do not pass the swim test will be re-designated as “Non-Swimmers” and are restricted tochest deep water. If your child’s swimming abilities change between the time you register for a program and the start of theprogram please contact staff as you will need to sign off on a new profile form.4 M-NCPPC Summer Programs 2016

Summer Day Camp Required Forms ProcessTo comply with the state of Maryland’s Youth Camp Standards, the Department of Parks and Recreation instituted a new,streamlined process for completing and collecting required forms. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to deliver allnecessary, completed forms to each program location. Children may not attend any session without completed forms on site.NO EXCEPTIONS.If you have any questions or need any help before or during registration, please call the Customer Service Help Desk at301-699-CALL (2255); TTY 301-699-2544.
