FRESNO CITY COLLEGE7STUDENT ACADEMIC STANDINGState education code requires students to maintain satisfactory progress while enrolled at a community college. Students who do notmake satisfactory progress by completing courses and/or achieving satisfactory grades will be placed on progress or academic probationrespectively. Progress Probation - student has attempted and accumulated a total of 12 or more units for which the entries of “W”, “NP”,“NC”, and “I” are recorded reaches or exceeds fifty percent (50%). Academic Probation - student has attempted and accumulated atotal of 12 or more semester units for which the cumulative grade point average falls below 2.0 in all units which were graded on thebasis of letter grades. 8SUMMER 2020 CLASS SCHEDULERegistration Substitutes (Proxy Registration)Student SchedulesThe Federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act makesit illegal for the college to release a student’s confidentialeducational records, including registration information, toanyone without written permission from the student. Therefore,if you are unable to register on your assigned date, you mayeither register at a later date or have someone else substitutefor you provided the following procedure is observed.Students who register in person will receive a registrationstatement at the time of registration. The registration statementwill also include the payment due date. Students are not sent acopy of any registration transactions or a class schedule whenusing WebAdvisor. Students can view and print a copy of theirclass schedule by clicking on “My Class Schedule” under theAcademic Profile heading.YOUR SUBSTITUTE must have a written statement signedby you authorizing him/her to register on your behalf. Formsare available at the Admissions and Records Office. It is notnecessary that your authorization be made on the form providedby the college; however, if you prepare your own statement, itmust contain specific information. Contact the Admissions andRecords Office for details.Late RegistrationYOUR SUBSTITUTE should also have your registrationworksheet, a list of classes you wish to take (including severalalternates) and sufficient funds to pay the necessary fees listedunder Enrollment Fees on page 12.Online Registration - WebAdvisorStudents in good standing, with no registration holds,can access WebAdvisor through the college portal. Visitwww.fresnocitycollege.edu and click on “My Portal”. Once youlog in to your student portal you can access WebAdvisor, andother useful tools. Before logging in to WebAdvisor, completethe following steps: Be sure to study course descriptions in the college’scatalog, or online, to ensure that prerequisites are satisfied. See a counselor for any assistance you need to clear aprerequisite taken in high school or at another college,academic standing other than GOOD, update your studenteducation plan (SEP) or select classes. Clear any registration holds at the appropriate office (seeregistration holds on page 6).Students are not sent a copy of any registration transactions ora class schedule when using WebAdvisor. Students can viewand print a copy of their class schedule by clicking on “MyClass Schedule” under the Academic Profile heading. Studentsare responsible for paying any fees due by the payment duedate. Click on “Your Payment Due Date” under the FinancialInformation heading to determine when your fees are due.Steps of how to register online are provided on page 10.Beginning the first week of classes, students wishing to adda class will be required to obtain a Student Add Label fromthe instructor of record. The Student Add Label contains anauthorization code that allows the student to register for theclass using the WebAdvisor system. Specific instructions onhow to use the authorization code with WebAdvisor is providedby the instructor at the time the Student Add Label is acquired.Students who are not in GOOD standing will not have access toregister in WebAdvisor. Students will need to take their StudentAdd Label with authorization code to the registration office toregister.

Obtain necessary permission from the instructor ordivision office.Variable Unit CoursesWebAdvisor: For variable unit courses, you will need to enter thenumber of units you want to add.Waiting ListsOnce classes reach their seat capacity, you will be notified thatthe class is closed and may be given the option to be placed onthe waiting list (not all classes have waiting lists). Students arelimited to one waiting list per course.DROPPING A CLASS – Refer to the Enrollment Dates andDeadlines on page 1. Students may drop a class usingWebAdvisor or in person. Students not in GOOD standing mustdrop a class in person at the campus Admissions and Recordsoffice.It is the student’s responsibility to officially drop a class in whichhe/she no longer wishes to be enrolled. Withdrawal from a full-term 18-week class through the endof the third week (prior to the 20 percent point) will result inno entry on the student’s permanent record.Withdrawal from a full-term 18-week class beginning thefourth week through the ninth week (50 percent point) ofinstruction will result in an entry of “W” recorded on thestudent’s permanent record.Withdrawal from a short-term class will vary basedupon the meeting dates of a class. The studentwill need to obtain these dates from the InstructorAn entry of “W” will be recorded on the student’s permanentrecord beginning at the 20 percent point of a class throughthe 50 percent point of a class.WITHDRAWAL FROM COLLEGE – A student may withdraw fromall of his/her classes, using WebAdvisor provided the student isin GOOD standing, or in person through the last day of the ninthweek for full-term classes (18-week) or the 50 percent point of9short-term classes. The student may also mail or fax a signedletter that must be received on or before the final drop date, tothe Admissions and Records office. Mailing address and faxnumber available at s-and-records-office/index.html. Excessive “W’s” willbe used as factors in progress probation and dismissal.GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FORREGISTRATIONDOUBLE-CHECK everything carefully. The college assumes noresponsibility to adjust time conflicts which are the result of thestudent’s own error. The online registration system will catch mosttime conflicts, but the final responsibility is s are urged to study the description of courses in thecollege’s catalog to ensure that prerequisites are satisfiedbefore registering for a course. Correct registration at anearly date is important. A prerequisite is defined to mean acondition of enrollment that a student must meet in orderto register in a course or program. A student may challengeany prerequisite by completing the Prerequisite/CorequisiteChallenge Petition available in the Counseling Center. It is thestudent’s responsibility to be certain that he/she has met thenecessary prerequisite(s) for any course he/she wishes to take.The student will be dropped from any class where it is verified thatthe necessary prerequisite has not been successfully passed.Prerequisites will be validated after final semester grades havebeen posted. It should be understood by the student that whetheror not a prerequisite is specifically stated, the instructional staffof Fresno City College assumes that each student who enrolls ina transfer-level course possesses sufficient competencies in theareas of reading, writing and mathematics to be able to profit frominstruction. A corequisite indicates that the course must be takensimultaneously with another course if not already completed.Advisory indicates that the institution recommends, but doesnot require certain course work be taken prior to enrolling in thedescribed course.Other Limitations on EnrollmentEnrollment in certain courses or educational programs of studymay require tryouts, auditions or may be limited by health andsafety considerations, facility limitations, faculty workload, theavailability of qualified instructors, funding limitations or legalrequirements imposed by statutes, regulations or contracts.All such limitations are in conformity with the provisions ofTitle 5, Section 58106, California Community College Board ofGovernors.
