About theFACULTY OFHUMANITIES ANDEDUCATIONTenure of AppointmentAppointment as Lecturer will normally be forthree (3) years in the first instance, witheligibility for consideration for renewal.Further details may be obtained from theCampus Registrar,The University of the West Indies, St.Augustine, Republic ofTrinidad and Tobago.The Faculty of Humanities and Education cameinto being on August 1, 1996 and comprisesthe School of Humanities (formerly Faculty ofArts and General Studies) and the School ofEducation (formerly the Faculty of Education).ResearchThe Communication Studies section fostersresearch that connects locally relevantquestionstoglobaldebatesanddevelopments. It works with regionalinstitutions, like CARIMAC in Mona, Jamaica,and local NGOs and media houses, whileengaging in international collaborations inresearch and publishing. Other programmeson the St. Augustine campus, including CulturalStudies, Film Studies, Literatures in English,Geography, Sociology, and Gender Studiesprovide a research environment thatencourages interdisciplinary approaches andcollaboration.The School of Humanities comprises theDepartment of History, the Department ofLiterary, Cultural and Communication Studies,the Department of Modern Languages andLinguistics, the Department of Creative andFestival Arts and the Centre for LanguageLearning.Communication StudiesThe Communication Studies section is part ofthe Department of Literary, Cultural andCommunication Studies, Faculty of Humanitiesand Education. https://sta.uwi.edu/fhe/dlcc/The Communication Studies section has fiveregular members of staff teaching atundergraduate and postgraduate levels, aswell as part‐time lecturers and tutors. TheDepartment offers degree programmes inCommunication Studies at the BA, MA, MPhiland PhD levels and a Minor in CommunicationStudies. Candidates should also possess: At least three (3) years teachingexperience in Communication Studies attertiary level A good record of research and publicationsin peer‐reviewed journals Expertise and research interest in one ormore of the following:o Health Communicationo Organization Communicationo Mass Communication and Journalism Candidates with the following would have anadvantage: Master’s degree in Communication Studiesor a closely related field Experience of teaching and supervisingprojects at the undergraduate andpostgraduate levels Research output in the areas of Health andOrganizational CommunicationResearching and high‐quality publishingTeaching a diverse range of sSupervisingundergraduateandpostgraduate research projectsAssessing and examining student workServing on committees at the Department,Faculty, and University levelsParticipating in the design anddevelopment of courses, teachingmaterials and/or programmesAdvising undergraduate and tiativesContributing to the administrativefunctioning of the Department, and to thecultural and intellectual life of theUniversityCollaborating with colleagues in teaching,administration and research projectsPersonal AttributesThe Campus places high priority on individualsof integrity who can work well in a team andstudent friendly environment.
