ABOUTCLIMATEGUARDClimateGuard is a range of thermally brokenframing, window and door systems, perfectfor delivering optimal energy efficiency andcomfort to commercial buildings. The thermalbreak in ClimateGuard consists of one ormore reinforced polymide strips betweeninterior and exterior aluminium sections, forming an insulated barrier to reducethermal transmittance of heat and cold.Designed and engineered in Australia, theClimateGuard systems have been tested andexceeds Australian Standard AS2047. Easyto fabricate and install, ClimateGuard is alsocompatible with Darley’s other window anddoor systems. The ClimateGuard range is available in thefollowing applications: 100mm & 150mm Centre Glazed 100mm & 150mm Front Glazed Awning and Casement Window Sliding Window Apartment Door 50mm Hinged Door 50mm Sliding Door * Multifold Door ** Available as of April 2021climateguard.com.au 3

WHAT ARE “THERMALLY BROKEN” WINDOWS AND DOORSThe thermal break in ClimateGuard is created using one or more polyamide strips between the interior and exterioraluminium sections. This strip minimises the transfer of heat and cold through the aluminium frame, creating aninsulation barrier within the window or door frame. This significantly improves thermal comfort and performance,by reducing thermal bridging.ClimateGuard window and door systems help maintain an ideal temperature in commercial buildings, thereby reducingthe need for artificial heating & cooling and ultimately improving energy efficiency. All Darley Aluminium ClimateGuard systems can be anodised or powdercoated to protect from harsh weather conditionsincluding UV damage and corrosion. Speak to your local branch about the Dulux and Interpon powdercoat finishesavailable in each location.Compatible with a rangeof double glazing andselected single glazingQuality reinforcedpolyamide strip for thermalimprovementAvailable in a widerange of coloursCompatible with existingDarley profilesFEATURES AND BENEFITSClimateGuard range benefits include: Offers a comprehensive range including windows, doors and commercial frames Designed and engineered according to Australian climate conditions Provides optimal energy efficiency and comfortnon-thermalthermal Easy to fabricate and install Reduces the need for artificial cooling & heating State-of-art thermal break technology Provides excellent thermal and acoustic insulation-16oC-16oC Available in a wide range of powder-coat colours Similar to existing Darley systems for easy transition IGU sizes up to 30mm - for apartment sliding doors, sliding windows and awning/casement windows-14oC9o C IGU sizes up to 34mm - for fixed framing, 50mm hingedand 50mm sliding doors Thermally broken systems help reduces condensationand stagnant moistureclimateguard.com.au 5

FEATURES AND BENEFITSThe next phase in energy efficiencyEnergy efficiency is an important part of any green building project by improving insulation propertiesfor the building envelope, as well as greater resistance to solar heat gain through a multitude of glassoptions. ClimateGuard window and door systems provide comfort and an energy efficient alternative to traditionalaluminium windows and doors.U-values provide data for how much heat and cold energy is transferred through a window. The lower the U-value,the better the window keeps out the hot or cold. Combined with appropriate glass selection, the window and doorsystems of ClimateGuard provide excellent insulation between the internals of a project and the outside world.TechnologyThe technology behind the ClimateGuard system consists of two aluminium profiles and a reinforcedpolyamide strip that is inserted between the aluminium exterior and interior elements creating a thermalinsulator. It minimises the transfer of hot and cold through the aluminium window frame, giving the thermally brokenaluminium window excellent insulation properties.Design for PerformanceIn the future, when working with conventional framing, architects and engineers will need to alterdesigns or reduce and remove windows to meet energy requirements on a project. However, with theClimateGuard range an architect can incorporate large expanses of glazing using thermally broken aluminium windowsystems and still comply with the new Section J energy requirements. This also allows them to maintain current trendssurrounding natural light, ventilation, open spaces and great views.Towards Section JJSectionIt has become much harder to meet the minimum requirements for energy efficiency in commercialbuildings using conventional systems. When the time comes that you need a high-performance systemto get you over the line, Darley has you covered. By delivering to you an Australian designed thermally broken system, specifically designed with Australian fabricators and end users in mind, we can offer the right solution for Section JCONSTRUCALTested to the MaxClimateGuard doors and windows are specifically designed to meet Australian climatic an testing standards and comply with the National Construction Code (NCC). All ClimateGuardMPLIESCOwindow and door systems have been tested against severe wind and water conditions, as well as air leakage andoperation force. Compliance has always been important to Darley as it provides the peace of mind our customersneed when using systems that need to stand the test of time.climateguard.com.au 7

How ClimateGuard complieswith the recent changes to the National Construction CodeThe NCC provides the minimum necessary requirements for safety, health, amenity and sustainability in the design andconstruction of new buildings (and new building work in existing buildings) throughout Australia. The current NationalConstruction Code updates commenced 1st May 2020.Some key changes to the code now include: ENERGY EFFICIENCYThe commercial building energy efficiency provisions have undergone their first majoroverhaul since 2010, consistent with the COAG National Energy Productivity Plan.A package of measures for Volume One focuses on reducing energy consumption bya potential 35%, representing a step-change for commercial buildings. The commercial building energy efficiency requirements (i.e. Section J ) aresignificantly changed, including new VMs for NABERS and Green Star. This changewas subject to a 1 year transition period from 1 May 2019, during which time, eitherthe NCC 2016 or NCC 2019 requirements could be used. The updates are now currentand mandatory as of 1st May 2020.climateguard.com.au 21
