Corpus Christi SundayJune 19, 2022My dear parishioners,A happy Father’s Day! For today and the week ahead.— Today we celebrate the feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. Because ofthe somber atmosphere of Holy Week - when Holy Thursday leads to Good Friday - today’sfeast celebrates with joy Christ’s gift of Himself to us.— This day also marks the beginning of three years of “Eucharistic Revival” in the CatholicChurch in the United States. Why now? Because of scandal, division, disease, doubt . the Church has withstood all ofthese throughout our very human history. But in our time, we confront all of them, all atonce.Yet Jesus is present. He desires to heal, renew and unify the Church in the world - byuniting us once again around the source and summit of our faith: the Holy Eucharist! Moreinfo to come.— The No Name Chorale will be here this afternoon, Sunday June 19, in concert at 2:30pm. Their vocal musical presentation is always excellent. Join us!— On Monday, Bishop McGovern will celebrate a Jubilee Mass with all our priests who areobserving anniversary years of Ordination. The June 20 Mass will be at 4:00 pm here in our Cathedral. All are welcome!— And later this week, on Friday and Saturday, we’ll have a bit of “Christmas in June”here at the Cathedral. (June 24 and 25 mark half-way between last Christmas and nextChristmas.) In the Undercroft, over 100 nativity sets from around the world will beavailable for donation/purchase. We need a little Christmas now!Your Cathedral is always a special, busy place! In Christ,Monsignor Myler

Corpus Christi SundayCATHEDRAL:LOOKING BACK.LOOKING AHEADwith Monsignor Myler — June 19, 2022Many of us remember that warm January day now 23 years ago, in 1999 when Pope John Paul II visited St. Louis.I hope many of you were able to see him at the “Mass in the Dome”or in his “popemobile” along the parade route.A parishioner of mine who worked for TWA gifted meone of the headrest covers from the papal plane, Shepherd One.I had it framed, along with a photo of the chalice used at the Mass which belongs to historic Holy Family Parish in Cahokia.Memories.June 19, 2022
