The ChancellorMEMORANDUM TO: Faculty and StaffThe LSUE Employee Handbook provides basic information about Louisiana State University Eunice withspecial emphasis on functions, responsibilities, and rights and privileges of faculty and staff. Thehandbook is divided into three sections. The first applies to all LSUE employees; the second appliesprincipally to faculty; the third applies principally to staff.The information in the handbook is intended to help faculty and staff become familiar with the institutionand to provide a ready reference to organization, policies, and regulation. More detailed information isprovided in the Policy Statements issued by the Chancellor’s Office and in the Bylaws and Regulations ofthe Board of Supervisors of Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College. Thesematerials are available online.Let me also direct your attention to the appendices. They contain many important documents rangingfrom affirmative action procedures to the constitution of both the faculty and staff senates.The Business Affairs Office annually updates the long, general section of the handbook. The AcademicAffairs Office updates the faculty section. The Human Resource Office updates the staff section. INSTITUTIONAL MISSIONThe purpose of Louisiana State University Eunice is to serve the needs of itsconstituency in keeping with the overall mission of Louisiana State University which includesinstitutions, facilities, and programs in each of Louisiana’s 64 parishes. Specifically, LSU Euniceseeks to provide programs and services normally associated with an open admissioncomprehensive two-year college. Accordingly, the role, scope, and mission statement for LSUEunice, as promulgated in the “LSU at Eunice Strategic Plan: Blueprint for the Future” andapproved by the LSU Board of Supervisors is as follows:Louisiana State University Eunice, a campus of Louisiana State University, is a comprehensive,open admissions institution of higher education. LSUE is dedicated to high quality, low-costeducation and is committed to academic excellence and the dignity and worth of the individual.To this end, Louisiana State University Eunice offers associate degrees, technical diplomas,certificates and continuing education programs as well as transfer curricula. Its curricula spanthe liberal arts, sciences, business and technology, pre-professional and professional areas forthe benefit of a diverse population.
