ACADEMIC ARTICULATION AGREEMENTA.S. in Nursing at Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield, MA and B.S.N. in Nursing (RNBSN Program) at Elms College, Chicopee, MAThe above institutions hereby enter into an agreement for the transfer of Springfield TechnicalCommunity College graduates from the A.S. in Nursing degree program into the Elms College RNBSN program.Objectives of this Agreement:1. To attract qualified candidates from Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) to full-timeand part-time on campus and online RN-BSN program options offered by Elms College.2. To promote a seamless transition for students from Springfield Technical Community College’sAssociate’s degree in Nursing to full-time or part-time status in the Elms College RN-BSN oncampus and online programs.3. To provide program information and procedural guidelines for part-time and full-time studentsat Springfield Technical Community College who plan to enroll in the RN-BSN program at ElmsCollege.4. To encourage academic coordination, collaboration, and joint academic advising between thefaculty in the Springfield Technical Community College Nursing Department and the ElmsCollege School of Nursing.5. To offer STCC part-time and full-time students the opportunity to transfer up to 90 creditsinto the RN-BSN on campus or online programs at Elms.6. To offer STCC part-time and full-time NURS.AS students accelerated RN-BSN degreecompletion programs on ground or online.Stipulations of this Agreement:1. This articulation agreement will be in effect for five years and will be renewable for another fiveyears by consent of Springfield Technical Community College and Elms College. This articulationagreement can be reviewed within 90 days after written notice by either party.2. Elms College provides the opportunity for STCC students to complete the Bachelor’s inNursing (BSN) degree program in 12 or 15 months from the date of enrollment.1

3. This articulation agreement will be in force, and should be considered the entire agreement, untilsuperseded by a formal contract between Elms College and Springfield Technical Community Collegethat explicitly replaces this agreement.4. This agreement will apply to Springfield Technical Community College transfer students who havecompleted an Associate’s degree.5. This agreement guarantees that students who earn an Associate’s degree in Nursing at SpringfieldTechnical Community College will enter Elms B.S. in Nursing (RN-BSN) Program with at least 70transfer credits. All additional courses taken to satisfy major requirements must meet thestandards set by Elms College. PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT A.6. Transfer students to the Elms College RN-BSN program may transfer up to a maximum of 90 creditsfor which students have achieved a “C” grade or better within the past 10 years from SpringfieldTechnical Community College. Elms College requires that a minimum of 30 credits must be Elmscredits earned as a matriculated Elms College student.7. Springfield Technical Community College students will be given transfer credit for satisfactorilycompleting Elms College core requirements, general education requirements, and any acceptableequivalent RN-BSN program requirements, up to the maximum allowed for transfer or necessaryto satisfy graduation requirements, at time of admission.Review and Revision Procedures:1. Review of this agreement shall take place at least every two years or as needed from the date of thesigned agreement.2. At the request of either party, a review of the contents or implementation of this agreement will beconducted by the programs.3. Elizabeth Fiscella, Associate Professor/Director of RN-BSN Programs at Elms College and Lisa Fugiel,Director of the STCC Nursing Program may make changes in the attached l list of courses acceptedfor Elms transfer credit without renegotiating the entire agreement.Assistance Provisions:1. Springfield Technical Community College and Elms College will list this articulationagreement on their websites and in appropriate print documents at their respectiveinstitutions.2. Springfield Technical Community College and Elms College will collaborate in encouragingqualified students to participate in the RN-BSN program at Elms College by providing thenecessary assistance and supports to assure a seamless transition between the twoinstitutions.1

Mutual Responsibilities:1. The Director of Nursing and her/his faculty and the Transfer Counselor at STCC will advise studentsenrolled in the NURS.AS program at STCC. The attached list of courses accepted for Elms Collegetransfer credit assures maximum transfer of credits that meet the core requirements of Elms CollegeBachelor of Science in Nursing degree requirements.2. The Director of the RN-BSN Programs at Elms College, along with the Assistant Director of OffCampus, Online and Part-Time Admission in the Office of Continuing Education at Elms College willadvise and assist transfer applicants in compiling the required credentials for transfer to the ElmsCollege RN-BSN program.3. Transfer applicants from Springfield Technical Community College applying under this agreementshall be eligible for Elms College financial aid and housing consideration as appropriate to theselected RN-BSN program based on full time or part time status.4. The final acceptance of off-campus, online and part time applicants comes from the Elms CollegeDean of Continuing Education.1
